Pueblo Motorsports Track Day - Friday, October 20th, 2006
« on: August 09, 2006, 05:47:31 PM »
Since no one ever posts anything here.....

From the 'tex

"WOOT! Second track day for 2006!"

So, I'll cut right to the chase... we have an "exclusive" car-only track day.

Which means us VW / Audi owners can be all alone to Pueblo Motorsports road course.

The track day is on Friday, October 20th, 2006 @ 8am - 4pm.
And the track is down in Pueblo, Colorado.

Pueblo Motorsports Park (PMP)
733 N Pueblo Blvd
Pueblo, CO 81003-3988

Directions:
* exit at Highway 50 West (Pueblo West, Canon City). It is located in the Northern part of Pueblo.
* proceed West on Highway 50 to the Pueblo Blvd. exit. (Appx. 5 miles west of I-25 and Highway 50).
* at the intersection light, turn left (going south) for appx. 3/4 of a mile.

* entrance to Pueblo Motorsports Park will be on the right side (West side) of the road (Pueblo Blvd.)

Details:
* get an "exclusive" day if there's more than 10 cars - which means it's only VW & Audi owners
* $100 a car for a full day of driving
* it is a CAR-ONLY event; no motorcycles

This would be a street car event: helmets are required; seatbelts are mandatory!

The following are options are available to set-up from the track:
* ambulance coverage @ $70 / hour
* only drink concessions
* or... drink & food concessions

MUST READ!!!
If you're wanting to go, please make sure you're coming.
So, If you reply and say you're coming, make sure you show!
It took a good amount of time to get this worked out and would love to have this turn out to be a great event.
The track is reserved for us... but outsiders could come on if we allow.
If we want to have the track only to us, we could have a "password" needed at the public entrance with the attendant.

There is NO track-provided driver's meeting.
But there will be a REQUIRED meeting held by us as a group.
YOU MUST show at the drivers meeting to participate; no if's, and's or butt's about it.

Questions? Concerns? Please PM me only and ask!

- Erik

Thanks Ian...as we get closer, I'll take a look at my schedule. I'd be more than happy to go halves on the cost too.

If you want to make more out of your drive to Pueblo you should know that there is a FAAST driving school at PMP the day before.

For anyone else interested, clubs with 5 or more participants can get a discount on the school:

Quote from: FAASST web site
A 15% discount on this class fee is available to students and car club members when 5 or more participate from the same group! All high performance drivers are welcome!

I just got off the phone with Judy Faass, and she told me that they run a baseline hot lap in the morning for the students, and by the end of they day they're shaving ~15 seconds off lap times!! 8O

Hey Ian, you should've heard what Andrew was saying about your driving skills the other day.  He was talking so much smack about how he's going to school you at Pueblo.  Oooooohhh....
 :twisted:

Just kidding.   :)   I just wanted to get you guys to start smack-talking.

<insert smack here>

Let's GET IN ON!

I was thinking about going, but when I saw you were going to be there I decided not to go.  You know....becasue I'm such a thoughtful guy.  I don't want to embarass my friends in front of other people.
BRING IT!
 :twisted:

No, but seriously, I think I'll be there.  I'll likely decide for sure about a week in advance, but I think it's very likely.

If she would guarantee that improvment in times I would be all over that. Or how about a pro-rata pricing scheme: you pay full price if you get 15 seconds, 1/3 for 5 seconds? The truth is that I would be thrilled with finding a consistent two seconds without paying for more mods.

I cannot attest to the validity of her statement, but I think ~5-10 seconds for someone who is not a professional driver (yet) is not an unreasonible expectation.  The main reason that I signed up for her school is not based on her statements, but rather statements by those who I respect greatly who have taken her class, as well as attending other schools.  Also, since I am not the calibre of a Michael Schumacher, there will always be time I leave on the track.

I don't question the validity of her statement - it's just that I've been at it too long to see those kind of improvements from my driving better anymore. Thus my statement of being thrilled if I could knock of a consistent second, or two. If there's a group rate though I would consider participating - makes the drive down worth more and I'm sure I would learn something.

If I do make it and anyone wants some, less professional, instruction on Friday please let me know. I'm currently instructing for NASA, ACNA and the BMWCCA. and I've been on the track in Pueblo a dozen or so times.
