I was asked to ask you about Mintex red box pads.  So, whats the story?

dont' get them!!!!   they are great if you never drive your car fast, but they would fade on me coming down I-70 from evergreen under normal speeds.  They don't produce any dust though.

You probably should talk with Andrew (both 34k and coveredbytheblood)

Hey Andrew,

I had them too.  They were low dust at first, but after about 12-18 months of use, they weren't much better than stcok on dust and were never as good as stock on braking.

They were decent on braking until I used them on a track day.  Glaze-o-rama at about 90-95% of my car's limits.

I would only recommend them for a show car.

If you're looking for brake pads, I highly recommend the Ferodo DS2500.  They don't dust any less that stock, but the dust does clean off easier.

The stop better than OEM, a lot better and I never had an issue with squeal or anything with them.  On the track, they are amazing... they will fade eventually, but a lot later that OEM or anythign else I tried on my GTI.

I got my Ferodos from mike at www.parts4vws.com

Agreed.  I have the DS2500 on my MINI, and we put the DS2500 on Pat's A4 recently.  He is also a big fan of Pagid, I think that is how it is spelled.

I was a huge fan of the PBR Ceramics for my allroad, but most people knew that.

Pagid Blue for daily driving, Pagid Orange for aggressive driving, and Ferodo DS2500 for aggressive driving/track use.

But you already knew that.

OMG... redbox
Those things are raging POSs

As far as Pat's story, those are the ones I believe he set on fire on the track. I'd like to see that pic again, Pat. :D

They were also on Andrew's Golf on my worst day EVER at the track...

Ferodo DS 2500

I believe Pat will say Pagid.

This is the only one I could find on a quick look back.  I had others that actually showed sparks flying out from his rims...there are also pics of his turbo GLOWING in day light.

Thanks, Jon.  Yeah, I just got back into town.  Not sure I can add anything else, as everyone has covered it very well.  Good info in this thread.
