Wheel Offset
« on: September 05, 2006, 11:35:30 PM »
I just picked up the BBS wheels today and was wondering if i need spacers to fit it on my S4. They are 18x8.5 (i think) so the ET is 10. Do i need spacers to fit these?

most likely not, they may in fact stick out too far.  I am not certain of the standard offset of the S4, but believe it to be in the range of 35-45.  A 25-35MM spacer would move them to the stock rims to the outside to get the offset of 10.

I would do a fitment test on the rims ASAP, and if they stick out too far, maybe you can get your money back or exchange them for the propper offset.

When I had my B5.5, I ran a 17 x 8.5 with et35.  I know those same rims, including an 18" in the CH from BBS will fit the B5's...Audi and VW alike, but they come with the 35mm offset.  Any more than that would really push the rims outside of the wheel well.

Hotani has the ch in 18" with 8.5, et 35, and they just fit...25mm more to the outside will have the tire totally exposed by nearly one inch.

Might want to double check your fitment....

They came off of a '99 B5 A4 sedan so i assumed that they would fit.  :(
I got them used but it was a killer deal $950 for 5 wheels and tires, i just hope they fit

if not, just ebay them and try to get some money back on them.  Did you have any pics of them on the car they came off of?  That might give you an idea of what they look like....

Yeah i have pictures of them on the A4. I just found some of hte other offsets of these wheels (since bbs dosent make htem anymore it was hard to find) the others are 38,32, and 40. Would these be any closer to fitting on the B5 S4? Or am i really just shooting into the dark here until i know for sure

I would bet the 38 and 32 would be perfect for what you need.  Since the BBS CH in 8.5 with et 35 sets up PERFECT for the B5 S4...Rian Colorado had those on his Nogaro S4, I would assume that is what you need as well.  Rim width and offset are universal despite the rim, so if you have the same dimensions, you would expect the rim to sit in the same position as another with the same dimensions.  the et10 shots out the rim another 25mm from where it needs to be, or just about an inch to the outside of the car, plus the tire if you run 235 or 245 on width.  That is what an 8.5" rim calls for in tire width.
