? for those with GTI/Golf MkIV and Neuspeed RSB
« on: October 24, 2006, 01:30:17 PM »
Last Friday I had the Neuspeed 28mm RSB installed by Randy.  Over the weekend I noticed that I am geting a creaking sound when changing pitch (i.e. pulling out of a parking lot onto the street).  I took her to Randy yesterday afternoon and he confirmed that everything is installed correctly and tight.  Have any of you noticed this after getting it installed or is there a break in period?  I know that Randy used liberal amount of the grease that comes with the bar.

Other than the creaking I freakin love the bar and look for any chance to to a high speed turn.

Thanks for the feedback.
If it ain't broke, take it apart and fix it!

I had creeking after installing mine as well.  It was used, so i don't know about a break-in period.  It did go away though after a couple of months.

The RSB definitely makes a big difference on MKIV's.  I had mine installed after I put on skinny 15" snows last winter, and it made for a lot of fun in the snow.

I never did have a chance to get it on the track or autcross with all the new suspension, but driving it in the mountains and canyon roads was a lot more fun.

I think I recall Winston having asimilar issue with his neuspeed, but he bought his used and i believe his issue was more due to worn bushings. If it is brand new it may just need to "break in" as previously mentioned.

They make a bit of a creaking sound, but not too much.  Some of it is the car too though.  Getting an Upper Rear Strut bar (like eurosports) really helps get rid of those creaks.

I can't tellyou that what you are hearing is normal without hearing it myself.

Hey Kev, is the stress bar still on your car?  If so I would like to take a look.  Also what is involved in the installation?

It is still on the car, but the car is still in the shop.  It'll be coming off Thursday, along with the rest of the suspension.  If I get the back today we can meet up this evening or tomorrow evening for you to see it.  Also check 34K's gallery on this site I believe he's got apic of his here.

I had Randy do the install, but it is straight forward.  Just a little trimming of the carpet and drilling 4 holes, then mounting it with the 4 self tapping screws.  Probably 1/2 hour.  I do have the original instructions.

here are 2 pictures of one:

From my car, the one Kevin bought off of me.

Installation is super easy.  cut some carpet to make a flap (measure of course) and then line up URSB and make the holes.  Drill pilot hole, drill right size hole (4 holes).  Take the bar put it on and screw it down with the self tapping screws.

If you want to carry bikes in your GTI it can get in the way.  Not always, but most of the time.
