Well, this should turn out to be one big GTG/garage day event!  8O COOL! 8)

I got my stuff from ECStuning yesterday. I had completely forgot that it was coming and couldn't for the life of me understand why the UPS guy stopped in front of my house.    :? Man, is that a box full of horrors! That means I am actually going to be tearing up the front of my car and the engine on the 21st!   8O  8O  8O  I always get a bit nervous before doing something like this. Oh well, it has to be done.

Anyhow, who is actually going to be doing this TB install that day? For those that haven't ever taken a front bumper off of a B5, I can tell you how to do it. I have it down pretty good and can have mine off in about 10 minutes. Less if I'm not mindful of where I put stuff.    :?  :P

Also, who has done the underdrive pully for their car? I was thinking about doing this, but have a few reservations. Alan, haven't you done this one?

Chas, I think Alan did do the Underdrive Pulley.  His car sure is peppy.  Maybe that was why...

Just got my ultimate TB kit from ECS yesterday, too.  Also got the EFK from SPP yesterday.  It sounds like Jason Worff (buddy from work) is going to show up Saturday, too.  Van is considering coming to represent the B6 Audi contingent.

Mod crazy day...I'm still waiting for my Beru plugs from Greedspeed...other than that, I'll have my TB Kit, TT DV, and Plugs to change out. I've also started on my custom engine cover paint job...it's got some more work to go though...

From what Alan was telling me last night, you may want to wait until either during or after the TB to do the plugs.  I'm doing my plugs that weekend, too so I can help you if you like.  Just don't do them before that weekend.  We'll talk....

Pat, I'm was planning on changing them during, probably after I get the TB and DV installed. We can change them together...it'll be a bonding experience

I'm planning on being there to provide my Obi-wan-like wisdom and quidance to all my young apprentices.  If you haven't already, start reading up on how to do this job.  DaddyMatt's write-up is excellent: http://www.clubb5.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=60301.  The underdrive pulley is a piece of cake, just unbolt the stock one and put the new one in it's place.  As for spark plugs, the Haynes manual and Daddymatt both recommend removing the plugs so the engine can be hand-turned easier.  I found no difference in turning the engine with the plugs in or out.  Of course, YMMV.

I'll be there to point out everything you guys are doing wrong even though I don't know the first thing about changing a TB.  I think my DV is shot so I may swap it out then if I can wait.

Dang Rusty, if you keep working like that on your car, you'll be traveling backn in time!  When do you get the flux capacitor?

I'm planning on being there to learn about doing scary things that require opening the front end.   Also, since my car is shamefully stock, I'm going to be asking and looking at suspension setups.   At 80K, I figure it's time to show a little more love.

Hey Guys, I noticed that the images are hardly ever working in DaddyMatt's timing belt replacement write-up on clubb5.com: http://www.clubb5.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=60301.  If you want a copy of his images, I can email them to you.  He emailed them to me directly before I changed my timing belt.  I don't want to send them over the email list and overload that server.  So just email me and I'll send them to whoever wants them.

If you all want my Bently, you can have it, community property.  It is useless to me at this point and it may be helpful to have an extra resourse available, but it sounds like you all have it pretty well worked out.  The chaos will be in my thoughts, I will be sending you TB goodness vibes while working/sleeping.  someone either PM me or email me if  you want the manual, we can arrage for a pick-up/drop off sometime before Thursday night.

cheers and good luck to you all

I say Winston should be the keeper of the Holy Book!  :P

I also have a Haynse manual I'll be bringing, as well as a book on how to dry wall your new basement. Just a little light reading while I take a break from the TB. :?    :D

I too will be installing a light wieght crank pulley on my car this weekend. I didn't go with the ECS UDP because I really didn't want the issues with the altinator or power steering pump (if there really are any. Besides, I just got all those fance new belts from ECS and couldn't let them go to waste. So I bought the AutoSpeed Performance light wieght pulley. It's a bit more expencive than the ECS UDP, but it's what I wanted.
