Wanted: Speaking Opportunities on Financial Education.
« on: January 29, 2007, 03:27:04 PM »
I have been doing Financial Education seminars for several years.

Looking for new places to speak, groups to speak to. I would love your ideas.

I do these for free and tehy are completely educational. Not sales.

Topics would include things such as retirement planning, fundamental investing, education planning, estate planning etc.

Have you tried anything with Auraria Campus, I know that sounds crazy, but he Tivoli Student union. There are a lot of non-traditional students such as myself that go to Metro who might benefit.

Hell even for traditional students it might be beneficial, like Seniors getting ready to graduate?

When I was going to school at CU Denver I was a member of the Financial Management Association International, they had speakers I believe once a week on various topics, you may want to try them.

This info was taken from the CU Denver website:

I'll check with Tish and see if she might be able to get you something with Douglas County (in regards to seniors) ;)

Another idea, Chambers of Commerce.

The Highlands Ranch one has monthly lunch GTGs and each has a speaker, pretty sure others do as well. Might be worth a shot.

fnd companies that are laying people off/consolidating the work force and go speak to them. we have a lot of that up here this summer as you well know...

there are a couple of places in the tech center letting people go...that might be a nice place to look...just a couple of thoughts...if they atre decent companies you may have some nice 401 rollover potential to atleast get your foot in the door.

hey cole - came across this creative option for getting an audience:

Attention Adult Hockey Players !
(non-hockey players are invited, too)

Many of you know me through various hockey scrimmages or clinics, or are
clients.  I am a Financial Consultant providing a very planning focused
approach to retirement with XXXXXXX in Broomfield.  And, I love to play
hockey.

So, putting both worlds together:
I am hosting free ice time for a fun hockey scrimmage at the fantastic
Broomfield Event
Center, the new state of the art arena in Broomfield, home of the new
Central Hockey League Team, the Rocky Mountain Rage.  This
free scrimmage will be repeated about every 2 months at the Broomfield Event
Center!!

The 1st scrimmage is Wednesday,XXXXXXX at XXXX p.m.
and
here's the Agenda:

Short Seminar presentation:

1.       Arrive at XXXX p.m., enter using the door on the East side closest
to the highway, not the one you use to buy tickets

2.       If you're playing hockey, bring your gear with you to the second
floor (I'll have signage there showing you the way).

3.       You don't have to be a hockey player to attend the seminar.

4.       Eat something light before coming.  I will only bring bottled
water, soda's and light appetizers (cheese/crackers/snacks).

5.        No alcoholic beverages are permitted at all.  And none before,
either.

6.       The evening starts with a presentation called "Investing 101" at X
p.m. and going to just shy of X p.m.

7.       (no cost, NO sales, and you have to come to the seminar in order to
skate)

*         I like to share my expertise as a way to introduce my practice,
and feel that relationships are earned.

*         I will also share my philosophy on my Wealth Management Organizer,
a 14 point organizer that helps integrate financial planning

with taxes and estate planning and much more.  Many of my clients
feel it's helping them get the things they need to retire very organized.

*         A CPA and Estate Planning Attorney (wills/trusts) will be there,
too, to answer any of those questions.

Hockey Scrimmage:

8.       We then pack up and go to the locker room at X and skate from X
to X.

*         Sign disclaimer forms provided by the rink before getting on the
ice.

*         Please bring the usual light and dark jerseys.  I'll have a list
of who is dark and who is light.

9.       Limited seating:  Attendance is limited to the first 40 people, as
I assume not all attendees will play hockey.

So, sharpen your skates, bring your gear, and come have fun in the
beautiful, new Broomfield Event Center.

Perhaps we can get a group to go out together afterwards to Old Chicago,
too, if interested.

You could hold a Financial Management seminar at the top of Spring Creek Trail - spending your 4x4 mod money wisely

I'm all about attending that seminar :D
