Got mycar back!!
« on: February 21, 2007, 02:19:08 AM »
Well after almost 3 months I have my car back!!!

The "Kraut-Sled" is back!  After negotiations with the Insurance Company, 2 tow trucks, some hard work, lots of forum searching for a set of hard to find OZ wheels, and the Full Service from SVE the car looks great.  I could not be more pleased.

However it will not be long before it goes under the knife again.  Soon to be installed are:

Corbeau seats - thanks Ian
K04 - sitting in a box at the shop
FMIC - it is HUGE!!!
380cc Injecotrs (and soon conversion to E85)
Audi TT 225 MAF
GIAC Test software
Timing belt service (#2)

I am happy to be back driving the only car I feel "at home" in. :D
 :D

Bring on the summer, the track days and DubWars!

That's great news Randy! I can't wait to see it again. Are you going to bring it out this weekend?

I may want to chat with you guys about doing an E85 conversion myself if it is at all possible (and cost effective).

I will have the car at the GTG this weekend.

E85 is possible on the UrS4, it just take some time to dial in the fuel pressure, injector size and the trims.  I am doing it to gain increased octane, not to improve MPG.  E85 is about 104 octane, so the power gain is obvious.  It also runs "cooler" in the car as it explodes at a lower temp in the chamber (another plus), but it uses about 30% more fuel then 91 octane, so the cost ends up about the same, or a little more.

BTW - the car now sports a "salvage" title, but I would challenge anyone to find a part out of place or any dammage on the car.  It is perfect! :o

Nice Randy! Can't wait to see the Biggest FMIC in a Passat Evah!

About the E85.... I have been looking at this system but not sure if the injector system in the 1.8T is compatible. Any ideas? I'd love to turn the A4 into a flex car (coz i'm a dern tree-huggin' hippy... and that extra power thing sounds pretty cool too). :)

Thanks Gents.

The E85 route is going to be worked on later in the summer.  I will keep all of you posted with developments and results.

Unfortunately making our car in to flex fuel cars is not easy.  E85 will require a very different set-up from 91 octane.  The injectors alone will require a substantial increase.  Altitude will play a roll too.  I am not sure how it will work moving between fuels.  We will find out.

As for the K04 etc.....I plan to do that work in March.  I need some time to make the intercooler pipes and put them into production.  I hope to market the FMIC on PassatWorld so the R&D will be extensive.  The B5 and B5.5 Passat have a large area to mount an intercooler (larger then their A4 counterparts) so it will be a Passat specific application.  Sorry Audi owners :P

Good info Randy, yeah I just like E5 for the higher octane and cheap cost. There isn't really any mpg change expected. My biggest concern other than being able to do it and cost is I like to road trip and I want to be able to go to Vegas for the weekend and not have to worry about filling up. :)
