MkV GTi update, plans, and LC!
« on: May 03, 2007, 06:44:57 PM »
Launch Control:

The dealer found a tech bulletin on INOP DSG launch control (LC) and was able to reflash my ECU with the update (have been asking every 3 months or so for the last year).  That made me very happy and the LC completes the car and works awesome; minus some serious tire spin on the winters, but I just ordered a set of Bridgestone Potenza RE-01 R to help fix that problem!  It does to my supprise leave two equal length burnout marks with ESP off (I was playing and it was fun) which is a little confusing because I thought it was an open diff and the brakes distributed the torque electronicly via the traction control, but not when its off, but i am not complaining either way!

Update:

What a crazy winter!  I put a set of Bridgestone WS-50 on and that helped out a ton, but they are way to soft for my tastes, so those are going on the Passat this coming winter and I am getting a set of Dunlop M3's for the GTi.  Got a little body damage on the front lip from the deep snow when I was acting like I was a WRC driver, but it was worth it!

Plans:

Here is what I already have waiting to be installed:

AWE in vent boost gauge,

Goodridge brakelines,
H&R Sport springs,
Bilstien Sport shocks,
H&R swaybars 26 mm/24 mm F/R,

On Order list:

Bridgestone Potenza RE-01 R ->

AWE Turboback exhaust system ->

AWE VW MkV Turboback exhaust video

Looking for this guy named Randy for installation of my parts and GIAC programming?

Undecided on:

Brembo GT brakes, Stoptec, or Alcon.  Suggestions?

Wish list:

VF/GIAC 2.0T "RS/S" Upgrade -
  VF cast manifold,
  Garrett GT28RS/71 turbo,
  injectors,
  fuel pump,
  GIAC 91 Octane software,
  with race gas option =
  340 hp  331 ft lbs  on 91 octane $5500

Edit: Forgot my tires

Josh, that's hot. You need to scope my new ride too! After it's done at Randy's I'm bumping up my ECU to stage 2  I should be at an uncorrected 235hp / 275tq ...I think

And finally after I pay off the bills and get back on my feet...I'm thinking the GT28R- since GIAC seems to have a program for it and all

Nice Nice... can't wait to see it with some of the goodies on it.

What color is your GTI?

Alcon's if you've got the money... otherwise sportecs.   Brembo's are great, but seem pricey for what you get compared to the others.

Alcon's would be my top choice but they are pricey and so are the brembo's, so I think stptec is going to be my best choice.  Thanks for the feed back!

jack - Sportecs brakes cost even more than Alcons. And they are just re-labeled brembo's.

My vote for be for Stoptechs. I have them and love 'em.

I got my Potenza RE-01 R tires installed at lunch and all I can say is wow!!!  They have better feed back, way more grip, and the initial break away was great compared to my Goodyear GS-D3s!  Given I put about 30 miles on them, so they are not broken in, but I can't wait to see how they do when they are!  Using launch control it barely spun the tires and I just kept it at WOT, the launch felt awesome!

I am here!

AWE - I love the boost gauge.  I modified one for fit my car and I love it.  Their exhausts are great too.  I have 2 B6 S4 systems on order now and should be installing them late next week.

GIAC- New updated software is ready.  I have flashed a bunch of MK5's over the last 2 weeks.

Alcon - See Andrews allroad......nothing more to say.

Call me and we will get you in as soon as possible.
