New ride pre announcement
« on: June 01, 2007, 11:44:17 PM »
If all goes well, by about 9:30 tomorrow morning I will have a new ride in our stable.

when the turbo lady visited earlier this week, I began to think it would be good to get stacie a car larger than the 330 she has now so that her car could be the primary family hauler.  so in the last couple days, we have test driven a mercedes R500, an Audi Q7, and a BMW X5.

after driving all those we opted for

none of the above.  the 55K+ price tags were a little scary, so we have opted to keep the cars we have as our daily drivers, and to let me pick up a new project.

I am meeting the owner of said vehicle in castle rock at 9:00 am tomorrow.  If it looks good and semi-reliable (I need to drive it while the audi is in the shop) then we'll trade money for title and I'll have a new vehicle.

 ;D

should I dig up the "what is JR getting thread", or are you gonna at least give us some hints.

I am thinking P-car, that you will make into a track car.

no hints, 'cause I dont want to jinx this buy.

not a p-car.

well, ok a couple hints:
1) not german
2) not a US vehicle
3) asking price is $2200, I am hoping to get it for $1800.

Jon - you still free on Saturday morning?  If you are you could be the first RMCB5'er to know for sure what this is.  I am going to buy the car, and taking the motorcycle down to purchase it, and I will need to leave one of them down south for most of the day.  I'd love to drive the new ride to your place, then have you drive  me down to pick up the motorcycle in castle rock.  then late in the day, I'll come retrieve the new vehicle from in front of your house.  Any chance this is an option.  If it doesn't work for Jon, any chance any of the rest of you south end of town folks could help out?

I can most likely help you out Andrew, I will be doing yard work and other stuff for the house and for our camping trip next weekend.

I also need to get in touch with Jon in the AM about the PC. :)

I am free in the morning, and I have room in the garage for your bike if you need it, and can give you the garage code.

you have my cell phone number, I will be up early.  I am hitting the sack soon so I can get up early, and then be tired so I can nap in the afternoon.

Let me know.

Jay - just talked to Jon - he is going to take care of my rides tomorrow since he is closer to where I am headed in castle rock.  thanks for the offer though.

when I see Jon tomorrow I can try to steal the PC from him so we have 2 of them.

masterqi - bzzzzz.  keep guessing.

I think you guys are barking up the wrong tree.  Let's apply some logic here.
#1  Ultra luxury
#2  Not german
#3  Asking $2200

Ok, #1 eliminates all the german ultra luxury cars.
#3  eliminates all the japanese cars, and they really never made anything ultra luxury until the Lexus LS400, and those are still worth more than $2200.

I'll bet our boy here is a glutton for punishment and is still staying somewhat euro, that combined with the ultra luxury class, but stupid cheap price tag makes me think he's going for (drumroll...)

A JAGUAR!  An older one too.

God help you if I'm right.   ;D

jon - nope and nope.

improved direction, but still a ways off.

Doc - you are on the right track.  but not an old jag.

as for the glutton for punishment, I might be with this, we'll see.

here is a nice video of roughly the equivalent of the one I'll be looking at/hopefully getting tomorrow:

the one in the video is 1 year newer but there wasnt much that significantly changed year to year.

any mods planned for it?  Snorkel, lift, winch, lockers?  I have had a LR pull my old truck out of a ditch before and I was very impressed with its capabilities.  A good buy, in my opinion.

Its WAY to early to have made plans for it.  I need to get it first, then see what there is to work with.

I could see a winch and a lift, will have to see what else budget allows over time.  taking the allroad to stage III is going to suck all the mod money for a long while, so likely this will stay stock through this summer and even winter.
