make it reliable first, then get it cleaned up, then start mods.

I had a disco for a short bit, before the allroad.  It was great, only that the steering box leaked like there was no tomorrow.  Great offroad vehicle.

I just saw it, in fact, it is sitting in front of my house.  Not bad.  Needs a bit of cosmetic stuff, but otherwise it seams really solid, even wear on the tires, seems to be lifted, will be a blast offroad and hauling the heavy stuff.  it has some nice features.

Makes me miss my disco :)

I'm a little bored, so I made this...it's kind of crappy, but hey....offroaders arent supposed to be pretty.

thanks for posting that Jon.  it's the only picture I have of it so far.  :-)

I have been running all day and just got myself home with it.  I look forward to playing with this new toy.

and Jay - I agree - it is friggin sweet - especially since it only cost $2K.  the only thing it seems to need is a top up of some DOT4 brake fluid.

other than that it is good to go.  Only 140K miles on it - not bad since it is 16 years old.

since Jay has already figured this out (nice craigs list skillz man) and Jon is getting it with this post, here you go:

1992 Range rover country:

I remember seeing that one on CL. It had originally been $3200, down to $2200, so I'm guessing maybe you got her to haggle a bit further.

It looked absolutlely filthy in the pics, can't understand why they didn't wash it! Perhaps that would have made some of the dents, etc more evident?

Anyway I'd suggest having it checked by a competent tech. I sold our Land Rover a few months ago. They can be cool but certainly there are things that need attention, and it's not necessarily a cliche to say that you need two: one to drive when the other one is in the shop!

Anyway congrats and enjoy the new ride.

Nice!  I can appreciate the need for something like that after last winter.  A serious 4x4 is a lot of fun.  I hear you on the oil leaks too.  Land Cruiser 2F engines are the same way.

Good luck!
