TT sterring wheel in A4?
« on: June 14, 2007, 08:43:38 PM »
I've asked this on other forums, but have not seen much of a response.  I can get my hands on a TT steering wheel pretty cheap and was thinking it would look awesome in my car. So, simply put, could I possibly put a TT steering wheel inside my 2001 A4 and still maintain my airbag capabilities? Its a shot in the dark, but I really love the squared off look of the TT steering wheels.

it all depends on the airbag connections, usually there are 2, green and black.  if the connections are the same, then yes, it should work.  It also depends on the hub...if the number of grooves and the diameter are different, then you are SOL.  Is there a way you can test fit before you buy?  or get measurements and images of the 2 electronic airbag connections?  That would save you a lot of time and money.

Could i get the diagrams from the repair manuals for the two cars?

No can do on the steering rack.  The steering wheel assembly is coming off a TT with an upgraded Momo steering wheel.  Owner is trying to set his car up more for racing than comfort.  I think he is nuts personally.

Should be a plug in play swap. I would imagine you can get everything you need from the TT. (new airbag, hub ring etc right?)

S4 guys swap to TT, newer S4 with paddle ad RS4 wheels all the time
