My new project GTI
« on: June 17, 2007, 01:44:00 PM »
I bought her last week for $200.  She needs a fuel pump, tires, and a fender(bought one yesterday) to get back on the road.  Everything else cosmetic will be done slowly, and in a few years hopefully she'll look as good as she did back in '92. I'll update as it goes.

1992 project vehicles are awesome.  yours was priced way better than mine though and I thought mine was a steal!

Well, I've finally decided the future of this car, although I must admit it's going in quite a different direction.  In my ongoing pursuit of living green, I've decided to make it a "green" machine.  I'm going to swap in a diesel motor which will run on veggie oil and I'm gonna paint it green.  Haven't decided on what shade of green yet, and it'll be a home paint job, with pictures and stuff all over it.  I'm really excited about it which has given me a little motivation to get it done and I got a second job so it'll get done faster.  So keep your eye's out as she slowly transforms!!!!!

Paint it to look like a french fry or a ear of corn half open, green ears on the bottom with kernels of corn on the top  ;D

Hot damn Sarah, that will be awesome.  I like Ian's suggestion, the ear of corn paint job.

If you need help with the project during the week, drop me a line, I would love to lend a hand.

Got a second Job eh?  When are you gonna have time to work on the car? ;)

Nice! I like the green theme. All kinds of interesting design things you could do with that.

There's a white '85 Golf out at Pull n Save in Aurora. Might be something out there for you. It had a westy front end. The grille is fuxored, but the rad support looked to be in great shape.

Dunno if you need parts, but i've been stock-piling for a while now.  ::)

I'm totally gonna put fries on it, it'll be rad. :D  I wonder if mc. d's would sponsor me...It's gonna be hard to work in time to work on the car cause i'm only free on the weekends but i'm really excited about this.  I'm gonna get a list of all the parts i need together this weekend and maybe start taking things apart.  I'll try to get some more pictures up soon too.  YAY!!!

well I decided I don't have the funds right now to put the diesel motor in, but I stumbled apon a 16v that needed a new home. so i'm gonna put that in this weekend. I was going to put pictures up but my dogs thought I needed some pictures of the insides of their mouths(anyone wanna give me a new digi camera?) so if anyone is bored and wants to play cars this sunday let me know. i'll try to find a way to put up pictures soon. oh and I got tires too so maybe it'll be on the road before the new year.

As it turns out, I have to take the Scout down to Penrose on Sunday to drop it off for it's makeover. So I will unfortunately be unable to lend a hand. :(
