Short Shifter
« on: June 10, 2007, 04:58:50 AM »
I want to put a short shifter into my a4 but it has a reverse push down gate thingy, do I need to get a shifter with a reverse gate or will getting a normal kit work?

all of the vw/audi's have that. so any shortshifter for your car will be fine. before you install one find someone that has the same car and has a ss. some folks don't like the 'notchier' feeling that develops from a ss.

not ALL VAG cars have this...b5 passat 5spds didnt!

what year a4?  a few options are out there...amung them are solutions from neuspeed, AMS, b&m and others.  JHM is a newer company with an A4 SS (b6+ models) that is a little more expensive, but by far the bets on the market to date...it replaces more components and is more durable.

I run the AMS and love it...and if the JHM had been out, i would have looked to that solution in all liklihood.

If they are the black plastic you need to make sure you use a paint that has a flax agent in it for plastic. Otherwise when they flex your paint will end up cracking and peeling.

You can actually buy the factory color with flex agent added from places like http://www.paintscratch.com

i wouldn't do 1000k hids you won't be able to see crap at night 4300k has the most useable light and 6000k it white but not as much use full light but you can still see a lot

and if you paint 11 year old lowers, make sure to sand them, prime them, and get all the goo off of them.  With the time it will take, it will probably be easier to just have them painted professionally, with flex agents, etc, like suggested bove.

I agree with Kraylon in not doing 10,000K, it is bling, bling cool looking, but has less visible light than a standard halogen lamp.  I would run 6000K, those are pretty blue.  4300K is max light output for performance.
