Those look cool! (might look cooler on the car instead of in front of it  ;D)

LOL...they are going on the car tomorrow morning.  I washed and waxed the wheels this afternoon.  Can't wait to do a little canyon run.  I know they are not the best tire, but they are a far cry better than what I have had in the past.

The car drives great.  It's not often I drive a car and think, "There's really nothing else I'd change on it."  Jon's MINI is damn close to that, though.  The balance is great and brakes are just as good.  I told Jon the only thing I could imagine significantly improving the handling of it is some r-comps.  With as little as he drives it, I think some RA-1s would be a good summer tire for him.   ;D

Looking great, Jon!  Hey the garage is looking just as impressive.  We need a shot of that.

One of my winter projects is to finish my garage.  I already have 3 bays and an epoxy floor, but I need to wire, insulate, drywall and mud mine, then I want to work on organization.  Where did you get your cabinets?  I have been researching them, but really like yours.

Where did you get your cabinets?  I have been researching them, but really like yours.

I got them from Lowes, and I painted them to match.  The original ones were from the old house, they were just the unpainted ones, wood/pack board look, and the new ones were white, so I sanded and painted those to match.

By taking my old cabinets from the old house, it saved me nearly $2K or more.  I have added 4 large vertical closet cabinets to either side of the garage, near the garage doors, those ran bout $150 for each one.

put in the SPC adjustable control arms today, removing the Megan Racing adjustables.  The SPC is about 2 times the size, and the bushings are sealed and pressed in.  Car is much quieter in the back now, not as much translated road noise, which is good, handling is the same :)

I also just ordered this :)...and my Vogtland coilovers go in tomorrow....

Nice Jon, the Mini is looking great! I need to get a ride in it one of these days. Also, Renee was so impressed we may add them to our list of cars to look at to replace the Passat. Of course finding one that are Auto seems to be a bit of a challenge.

there are a ton of S models out there now that have automatic....they did not catch on until about 2 years ago...so more automatics will show up in the used market in a few years.

OK, got the suspension in. I am VERY pleased. The handling is exactly the same as the H-sports, but the back end is more responsive and predictable around hard corners....does not break away as freely, and is much easier to maintain through a corner. The dampers are where the difference is. Now that they are matched to the springs, as compared to the Hsports and stock base dampers...the car is smooth, non bouncy, and goes where you point it.

The system overall is quiet, no increase in noise over the stock dampers and Hsports. So, that makes me happy. Still hear the occasional camber plate noise, but not any more than before...and even then, the noises are very few and far between.

The front is at a perfect height right now, the back still needs to come down a 1/4" or so...but I am too tired to mess with it right now. The overall install took about 2 hours start to finish, and I also got my SPC rear control arms in...so a very productive few days.

Maybe tomorrow I will mess with the ride height a bit and snap some shots, but overall, I am as happy as could be with performance, handling, ride quality and lack of noise. It was nice to whip it around a bit today...the car just feels planted!!!!!

PS...thanks Mike, redline, for coming over and lending a hand getting things set up.  It was nice having someone over to help me out on one of my garage days for a change :)

yeah, I actually did it last night before going to bed.

I love the rims too :).  But they are kinda heavy ;)....j/k.  They are perfect for the car, and the color match is awesome.

Doug Whalen, the guy that makes them, is a friend of mine, he mills me up some custom stuff and I get them for a great price.  He also made me some bases that will fit my cabinets so I can use my spare knobs as cabinet handles in the garage.  I now have 6 of his knobs....2 from Minis In The Mountains, 2006 and 2007, #10 and #2 billiard balls, and the round and cylinder Yin Yang knobs.

Will he do non-Bimmer/Mini knobs?

he does some for lambo's.  You can contact him and see what he says, but not sure how far he reaches out to the other markets.

Runs about $150 for a custom sphere, and about $100 for a custom cylinder.  He also makes them out of black and white derlyn (if that is how it is spelled)
