Oktdubberfest in Utah - Oct 6 & 7
« on: August 08, 2007, 01:20:34 AM »
Not to be confused with the local event. A few of us noticed this posted on the 'tex today:

http://forums.vwvortex.com/zerothread?id=3378696

Some nice guys on the 'tex had posted this up. I was going to try and make it out from Colorado, but alas, my doctors have something else in mind for me.

Here are the details so far:

Miller Motorsports Park in Tooele County on October 6th and a cruise on October 7th.

Show is from 9AM to 7PM and will include
4 local bands
Prestige Imports bringing some exotics
Bogeys Girls
Go karting

and Red Bull just signed to sponsor a cruise on October 7th. Its official

Entrance is as follows:
$10 per car with one occupant
$15 Per car with multiple occupants (as many as you can fit legally)

Things we are working on:
Local VW Dealership for questions
Local Tuners shops
Trying to find something to raffle. You receive a ticket when you come in for free

They have a website they are still putting together for the event, if you have any questions I will try to get answers, but the email address on the site below is your best bet:

From what I read on the Tex this sounds like it will be mch better than the local show based on the commitments they already have in hand. Whether its worth the drive or not is another story.

Exactly, though we are going to need some excuses to get out of the house here soon so this could be a good option for us.

Making this a Sticky.

After speaking with Ian on the phone just a moment ago it seems like we have some firm commitments for heading out there from some folks.

Now I know the event is still in the works, but if you are interested in going it's time to start planning for the trip.

Well, as Jay mentioned, I've gotten the blessing from the wife to go out for this.  The plan is, assuming the show gets pulled together, we'll head out from Denver at about noon on Friday the 5th, and leave Sunday afternoon at about noon for the trip back.  I'd prefer to go the back route as opposed to the interstate route, but am open to suggestions, but we'll see what the weather the week prior has been and what the forecast is.  We'll be in the motorhome towing the car, so 75mph is the max for me.

I was perusing the GermanVermin.com forums (need to be registered) and it appears they are still moving forward with the plans. I guess they are meeting in early October to work on some things.

An update from the 'tex:

Who likes beer? We might be teaming up with Snowbird Mountain resort because they want a car show for their Octoberfest on the 6th and 7th and who better to show up then a whole bunch of German Cars and drivers! Will have more soon

Shouldn't impact the travel plans too much if at all. I know they had been working on cost issues so if they can piggy back on this I think that could be pretty cool. Plus I wouldn't mind sipping on some cold brew while checking out sweet cars.

New details:

Quote
Notice changes are the Location, Prices Please keep in mind things are starting to finally fall into place so I can give you guys a more clear picture. Soon like tomorrow I will have directions and a facility map!

We gave drafted up OKTDUBBERFEST 2007 presented by German Vermin Auto Community, to be held at Miller Motorsports Park October 6th. Kinda like the last Hoorah of the Season for German Car enthusiasts

The Bogeys (sp) girls are coming out to look sexy on the hood of your car for pictures as well.

We've secured 4 local bands to perform

Nate is currently working on a registration site http://www.oktdubberfest.com so when it is up I will give a shout so you guys can register.

This is sadly a pay event because we have some costs we need to cover

Pre Reg via website =$10 per car and receive a goodie bag
At the Gate = $15 per car
No vehicle = $5 per person
Military is FREE limit 4 people in car though

So everyone has plenty of time to make it and hope to see you there Post up so we can get some more great sponsors out!

On a side note, I got scheduled for a medical thing on that Friday thinking they weren't going to pull this off. It is early in the morning, but they have to knock me out so I don't know how good of an idea it is for me to hop in a car and drive all day.

No reason to apologize, it's a big trip no matter which way you cut it both in money and time.

Yeah me too, I think they are still doing the drive on Sunday, but the with the bad weather coming through and what i think in the end amounted to lack of interest. Meaning I think they felt they were going to get stuck with the whole bill.

So I think they have some lessons learned and hopefully they can use the contacts they made this year and put this event on next year. With enough planning they could put together a really awesome event.

I wonder what all the sponsors are thinking...

Well there weren't really any sponsors, so I don't think there is much of a loss there.
