Just got a W8!
« on: November 21, 2007, 04:54:51 PM »
Hello all, just picked up a 04 W8 last week...  stock, 31k miles, dark blue, auto.  Have a Pathfinder but my wife just got a new job and wanted a "car" to get to work.  Been driving it the past few days and not sure I want to give it up!  ;)

It's at the dealer right now getting some recalls fixed (heated seats), audio problem, and an oil change, then off to get some new tires this afternoon.

Never had a VW before but started looking at Passats last week, and compared to the 1.8T and the V6 there was no way I could say no to the W8!  Seems they're rather few and far between...

Anyway just found the club and figured I'd introduce myself!

There's just a couple left on here now. They are pretty rare, they are fun. Just keep up on the maintenance and expect to pay a little more for service items as that engine is packed in there.

It really is a good engine, I wish VW would have planned better for it, there was a lot of potential.

When you get the chance post up some pictures, we always love the eye candy! I'm sure the W8 was a trat to drive today with the slick roads this morning.

Welcome to the group and hopefully we'll get to see the new ride in person.

yeah i was just messing around for a little bit on some slick side streets testing the abs/stability/tires.  i think the car was sitting for a year or so and the tires had a little bit of dry rot, so wanted to get an idea of the old tires compared to the new ones.  getting bridgestone potenza re960a/s pole positions - don't tell me if you think there's a better tire because they'll be on by the time i see your post!   ;)

Welcome to the club.  Those are actually great tires.  I had them on my B5 Passat 1.8T a few years back and loved them.

nice, w8 is good stuff. as long as you're happy with the power from the factory, you've got nothing to worry about. =)

Great car, and definitely the Uber Passat!
