30v V6 5 angle valve job + P&P?
« on: November 21, 2007, 05:12:02 PM »
Has anyone with the 30v V6 done this yet?

There is a post on AudiWorld about it for a V8 here: http://forums.audiworld.com/42v8/msgs/664.phtml

I was curious if anyone has done it yet for the Passat V6?
I didn't find anything when searching.

Since the V6 is harder to mod, I would think that the most bang for the $$ is in airflow and fuel.

In my experience, you'll spend an obscene amount of money on the head work for very little gains.

If you want more power, look into forced induction.

Like Doc mentioned, FI is the best bang for the buck. You can sometimes find a used Super Charger setup for around $2800.

The V6 is a good solid engine, but it's not going to win any races. Still, it will get you up the hills and move you through traffic with plenty of ease. The 2.8 has been around for awhile and holds up well with regular maintenance.

Of course you could always look for a wrecked B5 s4 or A6 with a  2.7T (twin turbo) and swap that in. :)

Got it, Supercharger or forgetaboutit as far as power gains for the V6.

If I did an engine swap, I might try to put one of the yet to be released TDIs in it, and have a proper TDI 4Motion...

Wife would devorce me over that though, I'm sure...  :'(

And that would cost more than you paid for the car.

Yeah but, if its cheaper than the new Passat TDI, then why not. Plus, do you really think we'll get a 4Motion TDI in the states?

As mentioned, a supercharger is really the only way to get substantial gains with the 30V.  If you haven't already, check out www.scaudi.com.  There are often good deals on used chargers in their classifieds.

If you go new, I found out that PES sells new kits on EBay as a side business.  You can get a rather large discount if you buy it on EBay.

I was really close to pulling the trigger on one for my A4.
