my new ride!
« on: November 14, 2007, 02:52:59 AM »
I got a surprise call this morning from my dealer, my car has arrived -- more than 2 weeks earlier than the estimated ship date.
Unfortunately I am way too busy at work to pick it up until the weekend which is fine since there's a bunch of stuff the dealership has to install.

I still have my Passat, which after a lot of work of returning much of it back to stock it doesn't really look that much different than before.  I already have at least 3 solid buyers in line to buy it from my posting on Craig's List.

So let the guessing begin! (Jon and Andrew: you probably already know so you will have to be excluded)

Alan, I love your Passat, I couldn't imagine what you could get that would be better than that.

But I guess you got an S4 or an A5?

Here is my best guess.  I took what I knew of Alan, will all his style and came up with only one logical vehicle....

I'm they still have to get the curb feelers and moped rack on the back, right?

I wish I could remember what Alan told me, but I do remember that it had a bolt pattern of 5x112....I think I remember that right ;)

Well Mercedes uses 5x112 IIRC, and they used to be with Chrysler (thank God they separated).

Maybe a CLK or SLK? I recall something about maybe wanting a coupe?

Ding! Ding! Ding! WE HAVE A WINNER!!!

My new car is a C300 Sport 4matic (fully equipped except for Nav).
I was originally was looking at a 328xi coupe at Murray Motors when they had the new C just off the truck.  I know it isn't a coupe, but the interior was much nicer than the 3-series, the exterior of the Sport model had a nice aggressive look to it with hints of the S-class (which I love), and the engine preformance was pretty much equal to the 3-series.  Quality is a huge leap for Mercedes and everything about it feels right.
There were a lot of great reviews in European magazines and websites and many think it is actually better than the 3-series.  Also there are a ton of Bimmers in my garage so I wanted something a little different.

The C63 is definately really hot and insanely powerful and fast, it's nice to know the C has a worthy AMG model -- and maybe some mods I could retrofit later.

I already have some mods planned, but it won't be as extensive as my Passat.  I'll have some pics after I get it.

I love the C class.  Some of the hottest Mercs, I think.  Does Lorinser make anything for the C class?

The C300 Sport is the car Renee wants to get when we get rid of the Passat. It's nice to see quality going back into Mercedes.

A couple weeks ago I was watching a video review of the new C300, the best line went something to the effect of:

"The C class used to say I can't afford an E class, not anymore."

here are a few pics I took tonight:

Luckily the wheels has the same bolt pattern so I could still use my BBS and CSL wheels.  I'll probably put my snow tires on next weekend.
