Did the Jetta wagon ever come with 4 motion?
« on: December 14, 2007, 02:46:36 AM »
just wondering if the Jetta wagon ever came with 4 motion?  I was thinking today that a TDi Jetta with a manual and 4 motion would be fun to mod and to make into a mini allroad.   ;D

nope, it did not.  The only MK platform to get all wheel drive or 4motion was the R32.  All others were just front wheel drive.

I know, I so wish they did a Jetta Wagon with 4Motion.  I thought with the 1.8T power plant, that would have been a lot of fun, even if it did look like a ford escort ;)

I believe that they made a jetta 4Motion in Europe.  Not sure about a wagon, though.  I agree that an AWD Jetta wagon would be cool.  Actually, I picked up a 2003 Jetta wagon 1.8T 5 speed a few months ago for a daily driver.  I've been meaning to post pics and all, but it's been so dirty.  Now, it has steelies and snow tires on it, so it doesn't look nearly as good as the Long Beaches it came with.  It's pretty cool driving it as it looks like a total sleeper.  I can't wait to chip it.

I looked into what it would take to convert it to 4Motion.  The parts are available, it just takes a lot of work.  The hardest part looks to be replacing the floorpan - not a fun job.  I think that there are some shops that would perform a swap for around $10K.  That's not really in my budget.

This morning, on the way to work, I was thinking that maybe a LSD like a peloquin might make it a lot better in the snow.

They have almost all of the models available in Europe with $Motion and TDI, and the Jetta Wagon was no exception.

Here's one on YouTube:

In the US you mean. The Bora has has 4-motion for quite a while in Europe.

i was just kidding with ya. I really wish we could have bought those here. I would have never had to buy the damn audi. I kept with the Jetta w/ 4-motion.
