I hope it's cool if I post this up?

It's a little far for most of you, but I thought I would put the word out - anyone is invited to join up on the GTG or the drive.  YNP is a great experience and a nice relaxing drive (mostly...:))

The Route
(Click the image for the interactive map.)

The Rules
A set of rules will be in place for the event and each person attending will receive a copy of said rules upon arrival.

The rules are as follows:
1. Cruise organizer will be the trip leader or pick someone else to lead.

2. The organizer will provide a map or driving instructions to final destination.

3. The organizer will decide departure location and time, rest stops, where and when to eat or if there will be a picnic.

4. If a member wishes to go a different route than the one set up by the leader, they must notify the leader of their intensions prior to the cruise.

5. The front vehicle (the leader) and last vehicle must use operational CB radios (may be club provided) and maintain contact with each other. Every 10-minutes, the front vehicle must contact the rear vehicle.

6. The speed limit on cruises will be a maximum of 75MPH on the Interstate Highway, and on other roads the speed will be based upon road conditions, weather conditions and type of road. No vehicle shall exceed posted speed limits.

7. Cruise members must be able to keep up with the group. If they cannot, they shall get to the final destination on their own.

8. Once the main cruise has begun or mini cruises to events within the main cruise, members who cruise with the group shall remain with the group.

9. All daily drivers must be at the end of the caravan.

10. When returning home, the buddy system should be used so that no one drives back alone.

11. All participants MUST carry a copy of current registration as well as insurance. Big Sky VW is not liable for any infractions that may happen.

12. ALL participants MUST follow all NPS Laws & Policies.
A copy of the compendium can be found here http://www.nps.gov/yell/planyourvisit/upload/2006compendium.pdf

13. BSVW will not be held responsible for any damages or accidents that may happen during this event.

Also, I recommend reading the "Your Safety" page on YNP's website.
We will be cruising through many types of large, dangerous animals and we recommend you use your best judgement when it comes to dealing with them.

Things You Should Remember.
 • Bring your camera.
 • Bring a spray bottle w/ bug mix and a bug scrubber.
 • Bring a cooler for snacks and beverages. (Prices are higher in the park of course.)
 • Bring extra $$ for fuel, food, and fun!
 • Bring tools, spare parts, and first aid kits.
 • Cell phone use is limited to around Old Faithful and is generally considered for emergency only.
 • IIRC the speed limit is 45mph.
 • Expect to stop a few times, and expect to be stuck behind buffalo in the road for small amounts of time. Stops should be enjoyed and not considered a nuisance.
 • Be safe, considerate and courteous of all around you.
 • Drinking, speeding, etc. is highly illegal and controlled in the park. Consider yourself in a state of Martial Law.

I like this plan. I will chat with the little lady. Of course we will have to bring the dog if we come.

Well Jay, we have plenty of room at the house so you know you have a place for you, Renee and Spike...lol..

I can also probably get us a place to stay in Bozo if necessary as well (fellow Jetta owner).

I think they allow dogs in the park, but I would be wary.  And bring a leash - might want to check the park rules too.  We would be glad to have any of ya - BTW I think we dubbed this "EuroStone"...so this would be the 1st annual run!

Renee and I are still trying to see if we can make this work. We've talked about it and would really like to do it, but time is really the issue for us. :(

This just appears to be too hard for us to swing. We really want to get back up into that area again. It's so nice.

Heck yeah it's cool!  I will meet guys that I haven't met before too, so I think most of use will be in the same boat there.

On a side note, I'm going to be down in the Denver area July 12th-16th to go to Bandimere and the Foo Fighters at Red Rocks.  If you guys are planning any GTG's that far in advance it would be cool to meet up sometime and grab some coffee/beer or whatever you guys do down there lol.  I'll be staying in Castle Pines at my uncles house, so I'll be closer to the south Denver area, but I would be up to meet anywhere you guys are.

Sweet! There will be a lot of people showing up that we don't know. I believe this is one of the first events to really combine any enthusiasts in this region.
