Notchbacks are the Cadillacs of the aircooled family.  Below is a pic of a buddy of mine that lives in Florida.  He got his car from Sweden...it is beautiful.

WOW!  I too find this model very appealing.  Simple and stylish.  I would go for it!

Old school seems refreshing among todays cookie cutter styles.
If it ain't broke, take it apart and fix it!

that's a fine car -- do it!

I would like one of those too, but my dream project car would have to be a late 60's or early 70's Alfa Romeo:

but those are really expensive to restore.

That would look sharp in a ivory paint job with plaid seats (like on the GTI).  I wish I had a second garage space!

There were a couple of those Alfa 105's at the last Coffee and Cars.  Sooo coool but damn they are some bucks there days.  Those, and the triumph GT6 with the Merkur XR4Ti engine and trans (and a 951 intercooler) caught my eye more than the F430, R8, RS6 and other flashier cars that have turned up in the last few months.

An old VW I think would be a kick in the pants to drive but I have no idea how rubbery the chassis might be.
