did not look like they were going all that fast either, something must have happened to the car, but it is hard to tell from the video.

Hey Jon - did you know that Ray was at that meet with his MR2 and knows the owner of that car?  Ray didnt go on the drive though.

Looks like he oversteered and the back end went off the road, coming back onto the road rolled the car.

It looked like they rolled right (clockwise) which if it was from putting a wheel off and getting back on the road, the snap back should have made them rol left (counterclockwise).

So as the story goes, the turn is a bit tighter than it looks, had a lot of gravel and hit the gravel and the brakes, which caused him to spin/loose control.

Just a freak accident. If I can get access to publicly viewable pictures of the aftermath I will post those. The car did a good job protecting the occupants.

WOw... what a freak accident.   It just seems like it shouldn't have flipped under that kind of situation.

I believe the flipping occurred from the car exiting the road, which if you got sideways then went into a soft shoulder or even a ditch you would flip pretty easily in any vehicle.

I wondered if he knew the guy.  Hope everyone was OK....when I first saw the title, I was worried that it might have been Ray, glad it wasn't.

That makes a lot of sense... That really sucks though, feel bad for the guy.  Seems like it could happen to most anyone.

I did someting similar back when I was a freshman in college.  Took a corner a little too fast, hit a patch of gravel on the road, slid off onto the side shoulder.  I thought everything would be all right.  Then, my front right tire dropped into a narrow ditch, and next thing I knew, I was cartwheeling end-over-end.

It was quite a ride.  Thankfully, my passengers and I walked away with scratches.  It was truly just a freak accident.  I don't think that there was anything I could have done differently.  The cop wanted to give me a ticket, but there were witnesses saying that I really wasn't going that fast.

I feel for that guy.
