I know that their are a couple sites that sell reproduced european plates and I was wondering what the general thought on them was. So please take the poll and add your comments.

Thanks in advance :)

I like them, but in Denver, it is illegal to not have your colorado plate on the front of the car, so most people don't have them on around here, unless they are showing the car, or put the plate in the front window.

Many people have been ticketed in denver for no front plate.

I would love to have one on both the Mini and Allroad, but do not want to risk the ticket.

cheers

Jon you make an exelent point, the Springs has a simalar law. I just completed a 4 hour driveing course with the state patrol (court order) and acording to them its also illegal to have your colorado plate in the front window.

yup, before I moved here I lived across the street of Town Hall with a police station (I parked my Passat outside) for more than two years -- never had a problem or issue with them.  I even got two speeding tickets where the police had clear view of my front end with my German plate and they didn't even say anything about it.

That changed when I moved to Denver where they are ticket happy with parking offenses and other minor violations.  I must have got about a dozen tickets (not from the police but by those pesty parking enforcement people) for not having a front plate (at $30 a ticket).  It is certainly a cash cow for the city and they will do anything to get your money.
Now I never park on the street and only park on lots where they can't ticket you.

It's funny how you see the Porsches and Ferraris with absolutely no front plates parked prominately on the streets of LoDo and they never seem to get a ticket for it.

I got three $30 tickets on my Mazda between 10/03-01/04. I can't attach my plate so I keep it in the front window...they don't care, it's all illegal to them. I'm sure I'd wire it on and they'd still say it's illegal.

Euro plats are mad cool, I want one, but I can still find better things to spend my money on

Heyy Greg, I dig Euro plates.  They are much easier to read and take up much less vertical space on the front bumper.  Just another example of why europeans have much more car sense in general than you see here.  If only we could get some things changed...

I would be interested in a group buy on these if someone wanted to start one.

I guess I am naive, I thought these were illegal in Colorado?  Or are you guys getting them for shows?  If they are not illegal then I would be interested.

So, would you place the Colorado plate above the Euro plate?

I would probly save mine just for photo/show use. I have allready recived a ticket for not haveing a front plate at all no euro plate or anything like that.

I was kind of thinking about puting the euro plate in the center and mounting my colorado plate off center to the drivers side. But the more I think about it. I think it would look too sloppy.

I think they look great.  But to cmplete the whole look, you should have Euro bumpers and trunk decks.  Ive been looking for a rear Euro trunk deck for my Passat for a few weeks with no luck.

But yeah, since Ive gotten the RS4 front, I need a set of Euro plates and brackets.

Yeah Steve, I saw some pics of the RS4 front from one of the FLA GTGs.  It looks great!  How about a gratuitous front shot for the kids at home?

I would, but coming back home from the Fla GTG, I had a disaster with a Uhual tow dolly.  Put a nice golf ball sized hole in the front.  I FG'ed it all and some nice Bondo, but I cant get the $ to get it all painted.
