GTG Project?
« on: April 21, 2004, 01:01:42 AM »
GTG Project -

Anyone interested in finding out what their actual torque (altitude adjusted) is at the next GTG, let me know.  I have become rather good a figuring out and plotting the information using the data from the ECU and a Vag Com.

Here is an example I did tonight with my W8 -

Here are the details:

Altitude: 5386 FT above sea level
Temp: 65 Degrees F
Pressure: 29.86 in/Hg
Dew Point: 16 Degrees F

Density Altitude: 6864 Feet
Absolute Pressure: 24.487 in/Hg or 829.24 mb
Relative Density (This is the important number) 80.79%

The passat W8 specs at 276 FT/Lbs of torque which is 374.26 Nm.  If you take the 80.79% relative density, you get an altitude adjusted torque figure of 302.361 Nm or 223 Ft/lbs of torque.

Here is my plot showing the results using the Vag-Com

This graph shows that at about 2720 RPM, the W8 cranked out 306.2 Nm of torque, which is just about right according to my math!  So, we can go through this process to make sure your ride is performing as you expect.

Let me know what you think!

Jason, if you can do that for Audi, I would like to see what the Allroad is doing now that it is chipped.

Looks like it will work fine, it depends on the measuring blocks and if we can decipher what they mean on your Allroad.  I am very confident we can figure it out pretty quickly.  Do you have Bentley for it?

Put me down for it.  I would like to see how my car stacks up.  This is also a usefull tool for comparing chipped vs. unchipped cars and comparing other mod's.

Nice work Jason
