Title: Anyone disassemble a VW/Audi roof rack?
Post by: s4LEX on June 12, 2004, 10:53:31 PM
I have a VW/Audi OE roof rack for a B5 A4/S4. I took a closer look at it recently and noticed some paint flaking/chipping off of a metal part in the rack feet assemblies. Trying to remove the feet from the bars so I can clean, prime and respray them. Anyone attempt this before?

See http://forums.audiworld.com/other/msgs/2744171.phtml for further details and pics

I have never dissasembled that rack system.  For some reason I thought Thule made the system, if they do then I know how :).

Heh Heh, yeah my mad Photosh0p skillz are teh suck!

Taking another look, I get the sense those bolts are just for extra security, and the rack manufacturer may not have meant for those two parts to be disassembled later. Just would be alot easier to properly clean and respray that part solo.
