Post by: Colorado_Baja on July 22, 2004, 05:46:27 PM
Like I said, modded my headlights and would like to know what you guys and gals think.

Be painfully honest.

These pics dont really do them justice... they are more yellow in person.

different, but honestly, not a fan.  I know things like that are huge in Europe, just never sat well with me.  How did you do it, film?

Its cool, but only on the Mk1 and Mk2 cars.  Its more of an old school kinda thing and just doesnt flow with your car.

Sorry man.

A guy up in Denver was recently issued a ticket on his MK2 for having yellow French spec Rallye headlights (they looked the same as yours color wise)

Sorry man.  I normally try to be supportive of others mods when I am on this fence, but that look just really doesnt appeal to me.  makes the car look like it has developed a case of jaundice.

Another opinion on this one, I am also not a fan.  I would wonder how it affects your visability as well... HID's Baby!

Exparament over, I dident let the film cure long enough before I took it out in the rain so it pealed.

Oh well, at least it dident cost me any thing.

Jason- spot me about 1100 and ill rock the HID's :)

Just my opinion...
This is "kind of" a cool mod on older VW's but it just doesn't fit a MK IV.

Even on older VW's it takes a total package in my opinion for the yellow headlights to look good.

thery're kinda nice when they are not on (looks nice with your blue paint), but I don't really like it when the lights are on.

maybe consider it for your fogs.  the look is very euro.

i take it that when you sya Jolf you are also refering to what is know as a JTI conversion, the jetta front clip (fenders, hood bumpers etc)? Cause If that is what you are talking about all I have to say is SICK. That is probaly the coolest (show style) mod that anyone can do to a GTI

I definately think your getting the better part of the deal there Greg. After we were talking about that I found some pictures online. The Jolf adds a very nice almost elegant touch to our cars. I'm not too sure about the Getta... I never realized how pinched our front ends look til I saw it hanging off the front of a Jetta.

With your 4-door your cars going to look like a tuff little Jetta wagon!

I like to think of it as a little Jetta sport back. :)

I too prefer the JTI over the Getta, but I want to know how this is free, and well if you can pull it off in 5 hours... i am impresed. post some pics of the progress if it happens

Its free because Im tradeing front ends with someone else, everyone is going home with a font end so their really is no cost, other than pizza and beer.

5 hours is about the norm, maby a little on the long side. Its really not that involved the hardest part is makeing sure that all the seams are straght, and that nothing rubs.
