Title: C Spot Drive Party - Mercedes Driving Event August 15-17
Post by: shummer on May 19, 2003, 03:56:22 PM
Mercedes is hosting a driving event at Invesco Field at Mile High later in the summer. Myself and a co-worker just signed up for the August 15, Friday, 2-4pm timeslot. We'll be getting a massage while waiting to drive (hopefully) the C32 AMG (349 hp/332 lb-ft).

Check out the web-site: http://www.c-spotdriveparty.com/default.asp

I guess it depends when the Nat'l GTG in Chicago is. It might be during that same weekend. Even though I want to road trip to Chicago, I might have to stay here. If anyone wants to join me driving a new Mercedes around some cones, then I think we will have a grand time. :D

Even if you can't make it on Friday (take time off work), the event goes on Saturday and Sunday. The rest of you yahoos can gtg then.

Did I mention this event is FREE? It's only one month away. Just reserve a time during the weekend and flog some nice cars. No conflicts either with the Nat'l or RMCB5 GTGs.

Since this will be my first time, I'm guessing it'll go something like this: show up before your alotted 2-hour time slot, sign in, drive as many test cars as you can on three different courses (slalom, wet course, and autocross type course), ride passenger w/ a pro driver in an AMG car, and check out the different booths/displays.

Hey guys,

I've done a couple of these driving events and they are quite fun. Most recently, I did the new Volvo XC90 (SUV) driving challenge, which was a few months ago at Invesco field. There were 4 different tracks set up and on three of the tracks individuals could drive through the course by themselves - on the fourth track a "professional" driver drove passengers through a course to demonstrate Volvo's anti-rollover protection. It was a good time. They provide food and video games all sorts of stuff. Ill be at the Mercedes C-Spot driving event on Sunday, August 17th.

Basically, show up 15 minutes before your scheduled time, sign-in, eat free food, play video games, listen to someone talk about the various models, watch demonstrations and finally drive, drive, drive! :)

No you don't, it is just deceiving. I thought the same thing, that is just to track your invite and give you priority on the times and stuff like that.

Hey guys, I wont be going to this, I wonder if someone can just go in my place and say they are me?

I can't be driving like with my current situation and I need to attend a memorial service unexpectedly.

If anyone needs shirts and wants to get them before Saturday let me know.

That is a great idea but you have to show ID when you arrive. They have your name tag posted on a board that you pick up, show your ID to a rep and then get your badge and stuff. Anyway I will be attending my "company picnic" on Saturday so, oh well. Next time we'll all have to coordinate.

Title: Tips for the C-Spot Drive Party
Post by: shummer on August 15, 2003, 03:27:20 PM
1. Don't eat before hand. They have all-you-can-eat appetizers there plus all-you-can-drink bottled water and drinks.

2. After eating, go straight outside to the 3 driving courses. Don't wait for the presentation. It's all marketing hype.

3. Ignore the speed limits on the 2 courses that you drive. They're at 20mph and 10mph. Otherwise, you won't be having any fun at all. They didn't kick me out or say anything when I drove their cars like hell.

They didn't check the confirmation number at all when my friend and I arrived there, even though there is a spot on the waiver for the confirmation number. If you didn't reserve a spot for the weekend, I say you just show up at the Invesco Field parking lot and do it. They didn't check my name or anything to see if I actually reserved a spot via the Internet, just my driver's license for waiver/liability purposes.

The two courses you drive are very tight. Totally different than SCR, but you can still have a blast making the tires scream. The "Hot Lap" with the professional driver is amazing!

You WILL NOT be able to drive the C32 AMG.

The driving event was awesome. Thanks Andrew for posting the link. The food was great, the tracks were fun, but there wasn't enough driving time
Oh well, I'll have to do SCR sometime.

I went yesterday and forgot my camera. :(   JR is right, some of us just aren't big on photography   I had lots of fun though. I really liked the C-coupe with 19" LM's.

I took the C320 wagon around the wet track a few times and loved it! That car's got guts and agility for a wagon
