Title: Tiptronic Sport Mode - anybody doing it?
Post by: shummer on June 18, 2003, 02:40:28 PM
Any of you tip folks done this? Mike or Chas...I'd need your assistance in accomplishing recoding the transmission via your VAG-COM. Seems like a very quick and easy mod. More details  here (http://www.clubb5.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=48281&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=0).

I'm curious too.  I haven't done any mods to my car, but this sounds interesting.  Can anyone comment on the results?  Thanks

Maybe at the next GTG, Mike or Chas can bring their VAG-COM and we can experiment. I think the code I need to program in is 00134. I already changed to the "old strategy" which is very helpful in tip mode. I'd like to try the perma-sport mode instead of always having to floor it.

I did it to my transmission a while ago, and to another guys, that I work with.  The only difference that we felt was that in the tip mode, it doesn't shift at all at redline, it will bounce of the rev-limiter all day if you let it.  I am at 01134, and I felt nothing from the "sport" mode at all, I haven't gone back to stock to see if it is any different now, but I sure didn't notice anything when I did it in the first place.  Jerry, the other Passat owner didn't notice a difference either.  I am more than happy to do this for you, but just letting you know what I felt.
