Title: Anyone remember me???
Post by: ZenItRam on January 24, 2005, 09:39:10 PM
I just thought I would join the board since I'm now officially a VW owner!

Just so you know, I'm Rusty's friend ... you know the guy with the loud black TA!

This weekend was the time, I purchased a black GTI to cone chase with.  So, my mods will be limited to what my class will allow ... but I hope to represent with skill and learn as I go.

Here's a couple of pics of the car ... don't worry there will be more (and shot better) as the days follow ...

Welcome!  And Congrats, did you have to sell the mean black TA then ?  I couldn't believe I couldn't catch you on the track       That was a bad arse TA, much faster than the one I had!

I liked your TA...I like your GTI too...Welcome to the family!
It truely is a family. You even get to piss someone off and play the silent game! You also get to buy Jay beers 'cause he's like everyone's big brother. I'm the obnoxious middle child...and Jonathan's the adopted one ;)

Thanks for the welcome ... I'm looking forward to the next GTG.  Hopefully by then I'll have some mods on the car!

As far as the TA, it's up for sale, so if anyone knows anybody who wants one send them my way ...

Here's a pick in case anyone is curious ... and yes, it's a WS6.

ZenItRam - ROFLMAO!!!

Good to see you here, Gabe!

You guys better watch out - class rules or no, if he preps the GTI like he did his WS6, it's gonna be mean...

I drove it (the GTI) yesterday.  What a delightful car!  Felt so much more tossable than the family-Passat.  First non MkI Golf/Jetta/Scirocco I've ever driven (!)... (man, I need to get out more often...)

Well, I've been looking over last years (2004) rules for SCCA.  It turns out I can't change any of the stock boost controls, intercooler, and boost level via programming.

If boost changes becuase of other mods, it's ok ...

Here's a quicky question is the DV considered a boost control??

A DV in my opinion would not be considered so, it does not change the amount of boost.  What it does, in most cases, is hold the boost better.  It is a spring loaded diaphragm that at a certain point gives to allow the rush of air run throught he system giving you that extra punch.

An aftermarket DV is just going to do it better.

Hey Gabe, it's good to see you here.  Rusty said something like this was in the works a while ago.  Fine choice!  Looking forward to seeing you on the track soon!  We'll be setting up the RMCB5 National GTG in the next couple months, so keep an eye out for it.  You're more than welcome to stay at my place if you can make it.
