Title: Anyone autocrossing on Saturday?
Post by: scott on April 05, 2005, 06:22:36 AM
I will be there in the Super Coupe... if you see 719 OSP, that would be me... come say hi! 79 OSP is Vince (the owner of the car) and he will be there too.

I'll be out there, not driving though.  Going to watch a friend.  Deciding whether or not I want to try...

You should definitely give it a go.  I would be going, but on Sat. I'm going to be working on my brakes.  It's a blast, you only get about 5 minutes total driving time, but it's an absolute thrill to toss your car around an autocross track.
I did 4 events last summer and hope to do at least that many this summer.  Anyway it's a great wat to learn car control, and the skills you learn in autocross transfer right into road courses.  I know I learned a ton from just the few times I've been.

Have fun,
Kevin

My biggest concern is that this is my daily driver, and if I break something, my financial manager would have my almonds.

The worst thing you can hit is a cone, and since your run only lasts about 90 seconds you don't need to worry about your car heating up.
Also I used my stock 2003 Gti 1.8T all last season and will again this season, and had no problems.
The first time I had trouble with my Gti was at second creek last December when a hose clamp broke and the hose came off my turbo.  Other than that I have had no problems running my Gti in autocross or at second creek.
