Title: another party GTG at Alan's loft
Post by: aowhaus on April 10, 2005, 05:19:31 PM
I'm thinking of hosting another GTG party at my pad in a month or so.
I know there have been certain people who couldn't make it to my last few parties, so I would like to make it easier for those people to attend by scheduling this GTG more towards their schedule.

Any preference to theme?  We've done a wine tasting party and a sushi party so far.  Or we could do the easy bring an appetizer dish and BYOB.
It's your call!

Sounds good - the sake/sushi party was a lot of fun.

Am I the only tequila enthusiast of the bunch? I've always thought a tasting party would be fun, but the stuff is expensive so maybe 3 people or so would go in on a bottle. As I'm sure you all know, a little goes a long way; so I don't think we would ever run out and there would be enough variety to try the different flavors and styles. We could compliment it by bringing our own mexican dishes or side items... just a thought. Oh, and by expensive I mean $30 - $60 a 750ml bottle.

Another thought (I'm full of them tonight, look out!) is a CO microbrew theme. Pretty self-explanatory. Everyone bring a 6er of your favorite CO brew to share. Plan ahead so everyone doesn't bring Fat Tire. :D

Exception to the microbrew rule would of course be Jay with his Coors... ;)

ummm.... i'm still thinking. Hope I can make it regardless of theme!

The tequilla tasting idea could be too much, especially sampled straight.
We could do Margaritas and Mexican food theme instead.
Personally, I'm a scotch drinker but I know not everyone likes that stuff.

Any other ideas?

I'd be up for a scotch tasting.

Just last week opened up a new bottle to celebrate Kaitlyn being born a couple of weeks ago:

Its a 25 year sherry oak Macallen.  mmmmmmm.

Gotta find a good cigar to go with it while having some of the rest.

I will bring the Oban!

Scotch tasting would be fun.

I am really going to try to get in on this party - I have never been able to make it.  May 6 & 7 and May 20 & 21 are best for me.

recommended dates anyone?
I'll be out of town May 5-9 and May 27-30.
I know some of you don't have the weekends off, so wednesday or thursday night are fine too.

Better to not try to plan around my schedule.  I'll make it if I can.

Themed parties are cool, but it maybe a little too much to plan for a weeknight.  Been to a couple White Trash and 80's parties which were awesome.

Do we even have enough Ho's in our club?

Anyways, I'm down with anything, but most importantly I really want everyone to show up.

Napoleon Dynamite themed party would be sweet. I've got a Rex costume. But it doesn't really matter because I haven't been to one of your parties yet. Still, Napoleon Dynamite would be funny!

I am down with anything, the only problem I have is that  if it is a "tasting" party, I cant. Not 21 just yet. but working on it. If you do end up doing a tasting party I'll still go just cant really enjoy it....legally. so anyways whatever works though.

Saving yourself for the big 2-1, eh?  That's cool.
There are other people in our club that are not boozers, so there will be other refreshments for those and for designated drivers.
