Title: Slammin Scooby Snacks!!! Initial Photos.
Post by: 03Indigo on April 26, 2005, 03:41:22 PM
So, Betsy was taking a nap Monday evening, ...remember, she is post knee surgery from Thursday,...and i was bored, so I jacked up the car, and 2 hours later, this is how it turned out.  First shot is of the wheel gap before for comparison, and now where it sits.  talk about sports wagon!!!  Like having the slammed allroad as well.  This suspension is pretty trick and I love the way it rides, need a few more adjustments, and then an alignment, but otherwise, it is awesome.

I know some people think this defeats the prupose of getting an outback, but for me, I liked the styling over the standard legacy, this looks more aggressive, and i like the 2 tone paint.  Now you can see the 18" rims, with 245-45-18 wheels and tires in all their glory with PERFECT wheel gap all around.  front, back and top of the tires has almost the exact same gap...that makes me VERY happy.

Sweet Jon!  the Subaru 402!   (that even rhymes)   :D

I do like that look and agree that if you like the style and have an alternative for offroad use, then this makes perfect sense.

as of today, thursday the 28th, the sways are not done yet.  Hopefully by next tuesday, the first day I will have to install them.  Under bracing for the front and rear will go in the same day.  Then an alignment later in the week, but no appointment as of yet, as I want to make sure I have all the suspension stuff done first.

I raised the car up a notch as under speed, say 60mph, and driving on the "test track" near my house, you all know what I am talking about, well, the bumps over that one bridge bounced the car a bit and it bucked....which could only mean one thing...BUMP STOPS.... 8O, so to correct the problem, the car is about 1" higher.  Test drove the same "test track" section this evening before dinner, well, hit it 3 times at 80mph, no bucking, so I am clearing the bump stops.

So, Pat, I would say it will be good for a drive in the next week or so...and so far, I LOVE the tires I got, the Direzza 101's...even in the rain they are confident.

A friend of mine has the Legacy 2.5xt and I have to say... Subaru's new body style for their wagons is just pure hotness.

here are the pictures of the rear sway, AVO endlinks, and the rear under bracing installed.  Wanted to get the fronts done today, but too frustrated and tired.  Doing the rear just by myself was a chore, took me about twice as long as it would have with an extra set of hands.  Anyway, here are the shots

No worries Andrew, I don't mind wrenching on my own, just took me longer as I am used to having someone around to help.  At least you got to finally see the car, you are the first to see it after the modifications, and the first to drive it, beside me that is.

I have fun showing you what that car can do now!!!!!  I am gonna have way too much fun once i get the front sorted out and the alignment done.
