Title: My car has 340hp at the crank and 0hp at the wheels
Post by: Spicoli on May 10, 2005, 07:31:58 PM
Well... kinda.   I got my APR Stage 3+ kit in... so now I just need to get it in the car.  Tomorrow I am going to Joel's (RS Motorsports) to see if Joel can patch my tranny or if i need to replace the whole thing.

If I have to replace it, I'm going to a 6speed o2m tranny.   If I don't have to replace it, I should be at VWOTG with my car.

I'll have to see...   BTW, if you didn't know the crap that happened to me with my tranny:  http://www.rmcb5.com/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&p=28578#28578

Well cool. Hopefully the tranny's no big deal! Good luck. I won't be going to VWOTG, but I'll see your car sometime soon

What FMIC do you plan on running with the stage 3+ do you think you'll actually get the 300+ at the wheels?

not running an FMIC, running a dual side mount IC with TT manifold.  on 91 octane I expect to push about 290-295whp (just shy of 300).  But with 100 octane, I expect to push about 340whp.  I'm going to the dyno after I get the stage 3+ kit installed and my transmission fixed.

If you want to check out the power, I'll give you a ride.

oh, and I am going o2m 6 speed transmission... sucks, cause now I need a new quaife, and other things.

Well I hope that it goes well for you with Joel.  He's a good guy.  Tell him Winston says hello.

I am going to try and make it to VWOTG Sunday for a short while and bring my son.  Since he's not even 1 yet, I can't commit to more than an hour, but he needs to get started in the VAG scene, so this is a good time to start.

BTW, I don't even know what you drive, Spicoli.  What should I look for?

I'll have to hold you to that one, I have a friend that is trying to make car vids, he did one last year of the whole VDub scence if anyone wants one on DVD but this would be a great thing for that too.

Why Dual sides instead of the Fmic?

I'll give you a ride.  I am not a fan of letting people drive my car, but it is not an issue for me to give people a ride.  It probably wil be about 2 weeks before I have the kit on, etc.  My car is driveable right now, Joel is awesome.  He patched it and filled it with tranny fluid, but a bearing is going out, etc... so I don't really want to drive my car unless I have to.

Why, DSMIC, I have a european bumper and anniversary lip from the european 337.  That set up is about 2"-3" shorter than the NA.  I really wanted to do an APR FMIC, but I would have to cut so much of my bumper away, that it was not a good idea.  There are FMICs that will fit behind my bumper, like Forge's, but they are not designed for the amount of air volume I am going to be running with my kit.  Everything that can handle a GT28RS was too big.  I could have done custom, but the DSMIC gave what I needed, a stealth look and lots of air capasity for pretty cheap (I love the look of a sleeper, my body kit doesn't really make my car a sleeper anymore).  Another big reason for me, was rocks.  FMICs are exposed to the elements and they will get beaten up with all the rocks we have on the roads.
