Title: 1.8T Turbo/manifold/test-pipe removal - Help wanted
Post by: dubitup on November 08, 2005, 10:28:39 AM
Hey Guys,

I'm in need of some help with my car on Sat. Nov. 12, 2005.  I need to remove the turbo/manifold, test-pipe, etc.. to remove a broken turbo to cat stud that is within the housing.  I've heard that this is a total PITA to do, but I can not justify paying over $600 to have this done.  I've ordered my parts for APR and should receive them today or Weds.  I was wondering if anybody here has done this or can lend a hand, Lunch and beer provided.

Let me know, I also have to source out a repair manual & reverse drill bits this week.

Alex

BIG, BIG thanks to Randy & Mark.

We repaired the broken stud, and broke another, it was a total PITA...we tried to use screw extractors, but the screws were just too damn soft, so we have do drill them out and remove the excess material, then re-tap the housing......worked great.

Also, for some reason, I holding boost better now, it used to spike then taper back quickly, not it tapers back a lot smoother, maybe a pinched N75 line or who knows, but these guys kicked butt, started at 8am was driving it by 5pm

Good works guys, thank you very much for all your help.

You are welcome.  I am glad that it all worked out and your car is running better then before.  Now lets just hope you pass emissions and that will be the end of it.

Now just dial up the suspension and replace the bumber cover and you will be sitting pretty!
