Title: Dub's coming to town!
Post by: ColoradoB5 on December 07, 2005, 05:30:50 PM
Hey folks!

We'll the itenerary is starting to firm up for my trip back for Christmas.  It looks like I will be in town from the 27th and returning on the 31st.  I wanted to come out for longer, but we had to negotiate with my mom, so we are splitting our holiday between Denver and Atlanta.

Probably the best nights for me to do something would be the 28th or 29th.  Is anyone free for something then?

See ya,
Dub

Andrew, whereabouts are you going back east?  Are you going to the Northeast?  If so, do you ever go near CT?  Let me know if you do and we can meet up.  Sorry I won't see you.

Pat, you already live in God's country man!  Remember?  That's why you moved that.  I'll miss you buddy.

Jon, me too, but I want to sneak away for an evening and hang out with everyone, so let me know.

Charles, how is the ice racing going?  That sure sounds like fun!

That's a play day on the 30th - i think they charge all of $5 to go out and drive on the ice all day. Not enough ice driving time on real race days, so I just go to the practices. Looking forward to getting out on there again - last year we went to the same practice day and it was the first day on the ice - it was near impossible to do anything. It gets better once people have worn down the tracks some.

Dub - like many of the above post I'll be in Cinti for the holidays.  It would have been nice to hook-up for a brew or two.  Have a good one anyway.

the reality is we will only make it 1/2 way to "out east"  wife's family is from IL so we are headed out there., still east of here, but destination midwest not norttheast.  I rarely get near CT, although I may make it to MA in the next couple of months for work.  I'll let you know if I am going to be close.

Right on guys.  Sorry I will miss a bunch of you, dang, most of you guys!  Let's just plan to do something low key as the holidays are stressfull enough.  I already have a tentative yes from Wendy and Scott, so it will be nice to see as many of you as I can.

I'm greedy like that.  I did get a couple offers for traveling consulting positions, and they would be the sort where I could live anywhere, but I would just have too hard a time leaving Ethan and Jen alone during the week.  Still, it's nice to have options if I really need to get out of here.

Andrew D.  MA is 30 minutes from my house.  We met Pat in Boston a couple weeks back, which is a 2 hour drive.

Andrew D. and Andrew S., Rob, Alan, Pat and Jay you guys have fun on your respective trips.  Relax on your time off.  I know I sure am!

should we set up a little dinner action on the 28th?  It would be good to hang with Dub for a bit.

Yeah, let's do it.  Where's a good place to go for a bunch of us.  It needs to server beer and good food, but other than that, I am open.

Ha! I just read my post and said to myself: "That kid can't type."

Can you tell I work with computers?  The word "serve" always comes out as "server".  I am just on autopilot with that one.

I chatted with Wendy and Scott and they are in.

So far, we have:

Me (maybe Jen but probably not Ethan)
Jon
Mark
Jonathan
Andy
Dave
Charles
Wendy and Scott

I'm in.  How about we meet up at Pasquini's on south Broadway at Louisiana?  That's centrally located.  Or maybe the Breckenridge Brewery on Kalamath between 4th and 5th?

Breck Brewery sounds good to me. Is the 28th the day? 7pm? Bueller?

If I may make another suggestion to add to the list, Benny's (http://bennysrestaurant.com/) is at 7th and Grant (http://maps.google.com/maps?q=39.727381,-104.983377&iwloc=A&hl=en) and has tasty Mexican food.

That sounds good to me...7pm at Breck.  Benny's is good, but kinda crazy and more pressured to hurry up and get out the door.  I would rather have the ability to hang and catch up, Breck should be perfect for that.

Not sure if Betsy is gonna join us...as I have not asked her yet ;)  But I will be there.

I thought Breck Brew was by Coors Field?...did they move locations?

The one by Coors Field is the Restuarant.  It is still there, this is more a pub w/ smaller choice of food.  The 4th and Kalamath was built in the mid 90s and from what I read is more of a bottling facility or something... but generally it is a bar w/ food.  While the one by Coors Field is just their Restaurant.

Breck in Lodo right?  That's the only one I know of in Denver.

7PM sounds good to me.  Call me if anything changes last minute as internet access is iffy for me here.

See ya then!

we were talking about the one on Kalamath and 4th, but Lodo would work just fine I think.

Hows about we officially call it at Lodo so half of us don't end up at one and half at the other?
Title: Dub's coming to town!
Post by: velo on December 27, 2005, 08:58:59 PM
I initially suggested the 4th & Kalamath because I thought it was the same as the one in Lodo and that it might have better parking.  But it looks like that location has a much smaller menu and closes around 9pm.

It sounds like most people assumed the Lodo location anyway, so I agree with Charles and Dub that we should hit the Lodo Breck Brewery (http://www.breckbrew.com/food/pubdenver.html) (22nd & Blake).  Otherwise we'll probably end up with people at both.  Sorry for the confusion!
