Title: Saturday Feb 18th...Moving day.
Post by: 03Indigo on January 19, 2006, 05:35:45 AM
With as wonderful as the weather has been, we are all jonesing for more GTGs.  As some of you know, Betsy and I are set to move into our house on Feb 18th so I am looking for a little help, this is the BIG MOVE guys...so get those backs in order, haha.

Starting at about 9 am near Parker, I have rented a moving truck once again, time to load it up from the storage unit, then head into town and move the stuff into the house.  Seeing as how the last move took only 3 hours, including the 45 minute commute (started at 9am, finished at noon)...I can't image this will take much longer.  Much easier not that everything is in storage.  We just want to get the stuff set in the house, and Betsy and I will be using the next week to sort, etc.  After the move, weather permitting, we are planning on having burgers....with the grill set up on the back deck and the patio furniture that is in storage ;).  So, all those wanting to help out, let me know, you will be fed and drinks will be provided.  If the weather sucks, we will not BBQ, but will order Pizza :)

The Skinny!!!!

MOVE JON IN TO HIS HOUSE DAY
Saturday February 18th at 9am
Meet at Lincoln Self Storage off of Lincoln ;)
This is I-25 south, then head east on Lincoln like you are going to Parker, the storage place is right after the Wildlife Experience building, on the South side of the road.  PM me for details, phone contact and house address/directions if you want to join us later for the BBQ.

Normally work on Saturday mornings, will see what my schedule looks like...  Definitely down for Saturday evening.  Hate to cancel out my Saturday as it is normally a good half day for me.  We will see how htings go in the next few weeks ;)

Feb is kind of full for us calendar wise.  I'll check in with Stacie to see what we have going on.  Might be OK to help in the AM, but not sure about the evening.  We'll see.

little bump for a 3 week warning.

Any help would be appreciated....:)

As for Alan's party, we should start getting an idea of who might go, or we can pick a different day if that works better for everyone.

Any suggestions?

We really appreciate the help :)

My pleasure...Do you want me to bring the trailer rather than you having to rent a truck?
Title: Re: Saturday Feb 18th...double event!!!!...move and loft par
Post by: 03Indigo on January 28, 2006, 12:41:59 AM
no, we have a storage unit, 10x30x12 foot.  It is full of all our stuff.  I have a 26' truck rented alreaady, it will be easier.  It is our entire house worth of stuff...so thanks.

How big is your trailer?....it might come in handy if we can't fit everything in the moving truck.

It's a 16' flatbed.

sweet.  Nice to have a big trailer like that.  I think between some of the trucks and other cars, and the large rental truck, we should be OK.  So...I doubt you will need to bring it.

Cool.  If worse comes to worst, I'll have the truck to carry some stuff.  I'll bring tie-downs and whatnot, just in case.

Remember...for all of those helping, you will be fed, and your thirst will be quenched, soda, beer, burgers, pizza....mmmm, food!!!!!

Another bump....2 weeks and counting.  We should probably decide soon about Alan's party...if no one thinks they can make it, maybe we can reschedule or choose a different time and location.  I am still totally down for a gathering at his pad, I hope others want to join in....it would be a bummer to miss out due to folks not being able to join in.

Also, another reminder that I am still looking for help wtih the move....those that are helping WILL be treated well :)  I need some help schleping furniture up this set of stairs....so....c'mon...who out there wants to lend me a hand?  Remember, once I get all settled in and the garage sorted out....I will be "open for business" again...more garage days to come in the future.

Any extra help, even if only for a little while will be greatly appreciated. :D

It all depends on whether or not Evan is with me that weekend. He's not much help moving and isn't quite the partying type either.

I'll let you know if I can make it by next weekend.

there is a good chance I'll be able to help with the move, not sure about the party yet though.

Will be able to give a firmer committment on both as we get closer.

Time to visit the family and friends back home...I really didn't want to go back there in the middle of February just to freeze my ass off, but it's the only government approved 3-day weekend I could leech off of until >gulp< May 29th!

If i can help in some other way between now and then just give me a shout

Alright, I have my hall pass secured for the morning anyway.  I am in for the move portion of this.  I know there was earlier discussion on trailers, do you want me to bring mine along, just in case?

Andrew...that would be awesome if you can bring it, doubt we will need it, but if it is not too much trouble, I would appreciate it.

I will be PM'ing everyone on the list directions, security codes, phone numbers, etc.  So you can get into storage if we are already there.  I will do that next week.

Tomorrow I am going to be without internet, but hopefully things will be back up and running at the new house sometime Friday night.

Less than 24 hours now, and I am a home owner again!!!!! Yippie!!!!!!

Thanks Andrew...I appreciate it.  We will have 3 Andrew's there, so now the only name we need to remember is Andrew....yell that, and someone is bound to answer, hehe.

Again, I will be sending out more detailed info via a PM by mid week next week, with numbers, codes, etc.  Keep your eyes out for that.

ok, we're making progress. I will have free time next weekend since Evan will be going to his g-parents' house at some point. So at the very least I am expecting to be able to go to the party at Alan's.

We haven't finalized our plans yet, but hopefully I'll be able to help with the move as well.

Charles, I have a PM into Alan, not sure what to do about the party at his place, does not seem to be that much interest or people are not available.  We will see what happens the rest of the week to see if we are getting together at his place.

I hope you can help with the move, it would be nice having you around.  That C-clamp is still sitting in storage, and I will need your help moving it again.

I have sent out PM's to those helping with the move as to where to meet, and what time...directions, codes, numbers, etc.  If anyone else is still interested, let me know, I will PM you the details.

I think it's best to cancel -- I don't have anything against Charles, except for the nasty mess you left in my bathroom last time... just kidding!

I found out it's a long weekend and I have a ton of stuff to catch up on.

OK, Alan's party has been canceled, we will have another GTG sometime soon.  I will also plan on a BBQ sometime in the spring after the yard is in, and we can have a garage/detail day here....and burgers and maybe even ribs!!!

Well after Jon gets all moved, folks can head out to the GTG at D&Bs:

Jon, I am hoping to be better by this weekend, but things are going slow. You need to move outside of Jay Deathly Ill Season ;).
Title: Re: Saturday Feb 18th...Moving day.
Post by: gragravar on February 14, 2006, 01:46:10 PM
I'll probably skip the D&B thing.  After moving it will be time to head home to see the wife and kids.

Jay, I hope you don't have whatever nasty cold/flu thing I have had for the last 2 1/2 weeks.  this is awful.  Mine is now going away, and I hope as well to be better by the weekend, but wow, this has been holding on for a while.

total bummer you all are feeling so sick.  Been there, done that, hated every minute of it.  If you guys think you are not feeling well enough to lend a hand, then no worries.  I would rather you be home taking care of yourselves over slaving away and getting sicker.

Jay, you got a PM with details, just in case you are feeling up to it.....

I already have one request for Beer, New Castle....so if there are other requests, let me know, I am making my list and will be beer shopping on Friday.

I think I could drop by later that morning (my plans just cleared up that day) -- I need to take my car to Apex at 9am for a little touch up and I'll head up there as soon as I'm done (I've been told it should take 1/2 hour).
I'm also planning on going to the D&B GTG later that afternoon.

Okay, Okay, FINE. The peer pressure is jsut too overwhelming

0900 at the storage place right? Should be plenty of time to get Starbucks, fire up "Merle" my pickup and head on over there. (named after a muli-colored Austrailian Shepard.....it will make sense when you see it)

I will bring the truck "Just in case".  The 1-ton long bed is great for lawn implements, rocks, piles of???? or anything else big and heavy that you don't want around your other things :D

got beer, going later to get hot chocolate, only a few mugs in the house, the rest are in storage, but we will try to find some coffee cups that won't melt.  Thought of coffee, but the coffee maker is also packed away :(

Too bad Starbucks doesn't deliver, how nice would that be, delivery at the storage place while the temperature is basically ZERO. :?

Hope you all dress warm tomorrow, bring gloves and something to cover your ears with.  I got the truck just now, it is frickin awesome.  I have never driven a truck that big before, now I want to go to Truck Driving School.  I think I can drive the MINI right inside it, and have room for the Honda, and the fridge, hehe.

Gragravar (Andrew...too many Andrews around here)...can you bring the fridge dolly?  If you happen to have it.  The fridge needs to go down a flight of stairs into the basement, but it is a straight shot down teh stairs.

Hey Jonathan.....got your message after you called, we were basically done at that point.  By the time you would have made it down here, we were at my sisters picking up a few things Betsy and I needed.

I appreciate the fact that you wanted to come down, but everyone here busted such MAJOR ASS in helping us get moved, and it was a ton of shit, a TON of stuff everywhere.  Everyone was a well oiled machine.

I owe each and every one of you that helped big time.  Hopefully within the next month, I will have the garage all sorted, cabinets installed, and have found all my tools...then I will be open to help everyone once again.  I miss helping everyone out on their cars, so make your lists, and for those willing to drive down this way, I will always be willing to lend a hand once more!!!

Again, huge thanks to everyone, you have no idea how much your help meant to both Betsy and I.  It has been a stressful 4 months waiting for this day, and now we have the rest of our lives to unpack.  I just told Betsy I plan on growing old here and I am gonna die here and she can burry me in the back yard with the huge life insurance policy she now has on me, hehe.

 :D
