Title: Looking for volunteer to help with key fob recoding
Post by: zmaninco on February 21, 2006, 03:33:36 PM
Hey folks,

I am having no luck recoding a key fob I purchased on ebay.  I have tried the two key method and the VAG-COM method with no luck.

Would someone out there familiar with either of these processes being willing to help me this weekend?  At a minimum, I would like to try to recode these fobs to another Passat just to ensure they work.  If they do, I know its a problem with our Passat.  If they do not, then the problem is with the fobs.

So again, looking for someone to volunteer their Passat up for a test.

These fobs are the banjo type.

Thanx in advance!

I dont think your keys will work with the other car only because in most cases the key has to be turned in the drivers side door and turned for it to work right and read the code.

PROBLEM SOLVED!!!!

It was the key fobs!  I bought two from one person on ebay and one from another person.  The two from the one person arrived first and they simply would not work,  They were from a 98 Jetta and the seller claimed they would work on 97-99 Jetta or Passat.  She was wrong.  These two list Clarion on the back.

The single key fob I purchased looks like it is brand new.  It does not list Clarion on the back.  Tried the two key method and it worked immediately.

So the two key fobs are being returned and I am good to go!!!  At least with the keys, now on to the next issue...
