Title: Passat W8 Mods?
Post by: Imprezzive83 on July 17, 2006, 10:11:31 AM
Hey guys, I just sold my Audi and now I am looking to do a few things to the exterior of my passat.

So I was wondering where I could find things, for a good price, like chrome mirrors, door handles, badgeless grille, euro headlight switch, and some lowering springs.

I had a page bookmarked on my computer but since that is on it's way to iraq right now, I don't remember what the page was.

I want to try and stay below 500 for all of this stuff and I remember someone posting a bunch of websites but I can't remember what forum it was on.

Any and all help is appreciated.

Hmm I don't own a Passat anymore so it's been a while, but you can check these out for starters...

you could get a new suspension for about $500, it's the most effective performance (and appearance) mod for your money.
With 4-motion you are a little more limited in the selection of suspension systems.  I have the Eibach ProSystem and I am very satisfied with it -- I believe you could get it for your 4-mo W8.

Here are some great websites for other mods:

Thanks for the replies.

My wife drives the car and I'm not looking to autocross it as it weighs like 10 tons.  :D

I just ordered this stuff from Fast Addiction. They have good prices and I have ordered from them before. Heres the list:

Badgeless Grille
Smoked side markers
Chrome door handles
Chrome mirror shells
Euro light switch-Which, by the way, I'm still looking for someone who knows how to wire in the rear foglight.
H&R Sport Springs-1.3" in front, 1.1" in the rear.

I didn't want to do a terrible drop because when I get back I want to get some 19"s for it.

These to be exact: http://www.privatwheels.com/html/netzforged.html

I just need to figure the backspacing and I really want to stagger them but I do not know anything about backspacing or how to get two tires which aren't the same width, the same height.  So any and all help on this would be wonderful.

The Tire Rack should be able to help you with the wheels/spacers/tires.  FYI, staggering the wheels/tires will only increase understeer.  You would be sacrificing performance for looks.

I decided that since I could not get two tires of different widths to be the same height, it is not a good idea. It would only set off the traction control and probably the abs as well. So I decided to just stick with the same size all the way around.

Not only that but it is bad for the 4 mo system to not have all the wheels/tires teh same diameter and widths.
