Title: Just got my 07 4 door GTI
Post by: Dtox on August 21, 2006, 10:44:13 AM
Just got my UG, DSG 4 door GTI about a week ago from McDonald.  Its getting a clear bra put on today and tints later this week.  We moved down to Littleton from Dillon this summer. Coming from a stage II WRX wagon that I loved.  This is my first VW and am interested in getting to know some fellow VW'ers around here.

Still waiting to get some real pics of the car, but heres one from the other day.

Welcome.

Damn now I can't recall the name of the place. A few of us have had it done by them. DON'T WAIT FOR THE CAR. I made that mistake.

Looks nice.

Welcome, if you're looking to get out and meet some of the local drivers there is a weekly gtg that happens Saturday's @ 6pm at the RTD Park-N-Ride at 55th and Wadsworth.  We bs for a little bit and then grab a bite to eat at a nearby eating establishment.  If that's to early for you there is also another gtg at 8pm on Saturday where we usually decide on whether to do a drive or not.  The drive is almost a given and lasts an hour or so, hope to see you around, any questions don't hesitate to ask.

For Tint.   Galen at Pro Tint (Colfax and Wads) has always done a good job for me and anyone I have sent there.  He isn't cheap, but does top notch work.  I know a few guys have gone there from RMCB5.  If you go to him, he will give you a small discount if you let him know Jack Ham referred you.

1 block south of Colfax and Wads intersection, East side of wads.  He has a bunch of toledum poles out front.

IDS is an excellent place to get window tint AND clear bra.  They do high end cars and everything in between.  They are located at County Line  and Boradway.  Ask for Noah and tell him Jeremy with the GTi/Subaru/Audi/VWs/Jeep/Mazda sent you...

I dont have the card on me right now as I just dropped off my GTi at Pars (PDR).  I can get it posted by Thurs for you though.  Again, great place for tint and clear bra.  Excellent work.

I just got the clear bra put on today at the dealership.  They threw it in for free when I bought the car.

What is everyone rockin for EM?  APR, GIAC?  I had an Access Port on the WRX and was able to change maps with it.  Can you do the same with either of those?  I have seen some OBDII readers on the APR page but the info was vague.

Does GIAC have maps for the 07 yet?  I want to get chipped (em) asap, but might do a downpipe in the near future.  I dont want to pay to have a stage 1 map flashed to the ecu and then have to pay again when I go stage II.

I will try and make it out this sat to meet everyone and go for a drive.

GIAC Details are here:

Adding a down pipe will not cause you to need a software update.

very nice!

I've always like the look of the 4-door MkV and it's great that it's finally available as a GTI.

Hey does your 07' GTi DSG have launch control on it?  They said they were adding it in the 07' model.

If your not sure what that is do the following, this only works when you are not moving:

Put the trans in (S) sport mode and keep pressing the break pedal
Give press the gas pedal and it should rev up the engine to 3000 rpm and not past it
Release the break pedal it will automaticially engage the clutch and off you go

If you feel the clutch engage as soon as you give it gas your car doesn't have it.

I have a 06' MkV GTi with DSG and does not have the launch control and it is the only thing I don't like about the car...

Suppsedly it does have it.  I tried it the other night but was in D.  I'll try it in sport and see what happens.  Here is an updated photo with the widows done.

Thanks.....

As far as the launch control goes......I know that it says it has it..  I tried it a few times today and got nothing.  If you put it in S and press on the brake and then the gas, it revs to about 1500 and then acts like the clutch engages.  Maybe I am not doing it right.  If you floor it with you foot on the brake, it goes to 1500 and then back down to about 700.

Is there a trick?  Do I need to activate something?
