Title: downtown GTG this long weekend?
Post by: aowhaus on August 30, 2006, 10:14:22 AM
I'm sticking around town this long weekend (redoing the guest room once again!), just wondering if there's anyone who wants to get together for lunch, dinner or a beer?  The weather should be very nice to hit up a place with a patio.

Yes. Tish are I are coming down for the Taste at some point this weekend. A patio would be nice so I can have a stogie :D

I could go for a stogie, but many of the patios downtown are still no smoking (doors and windows are within 25 feet).  Trios has a great cigar room, but that's inside.

I'm just a 5 minute walk to the Taste of Colorado, I could meet you guys there at one point.  Give me a shout.

We LOVE Trios. They have have a fantastic Ciroc Martini- okay so it's like straight Ciroc, but that's why it's good. I'll give you a shout.

We've not talked about what day yet- but maybe dinner and then Trio for a cocktail and cigar would be good (Tish's a cigar lady so she'd be down)

I never thought of drinking anything else there but wine (awesome selection).
I have to try the Ciroc martini than, with a good smoke!

Anyone else?

Sounds nice, I still have some Epicure #2's left.  Let me know when you plan to meet.

I would love to, but I'll be in La Junta for a Spec Miata race.

depending on what everyone's schedule is like, and how messy my place is going to get, we could meet at my place enjoy a cocktail on the roof or balcony, leave the cars here and walk to the Taste of Colorado.

Alan, what time do you want to plan on? I'm thinking around 8ish? That'd give Tish and I time to sleep in and still hit the Taste later in the day.

8pm sounds good, though I just found out that Trios is closed on Sundays.

I haven't been to any other cigar bars in the city, other than Trios, so I can't really highly recommend some.

This is the only place I could think of:
The Churchill Cigar - it's inside the Brown Palace Hotel.  It's a slice of history inside, pretty much a very old English library.  They have a excellent selection of scotches, burbouns and cognacs.  It's supposed to be THE cigar smoking place in Denver, but it's pretty expensive.

We could even just meet up at a bar tonight.  I'll give everyone a call to coordinate something.
I'm going to walk to the Taste right now and should be back in a few hours.

Alan, I'm sorry we couldn't make it out tonight. Tish wasn't feeling well all day :( We didn't even make it down to the taste...oh well. Let's plan something next weekend? I'm free all weekend.
