Title: Wine tasting (or drinking) GTG?
Post by: aowhaus on January 05, 2004, 10:01:45 AM
Too bad none of you guys made it to my New Year's Eve party, it was an awesome time and lasted til almost 5 in the morning.  Didn't know the wrath of it until the next morning when I discovered the mess of cheesecake all over the kitchen from the food fight, and littering of champagne corks all over the alley below -- can't wait to do it all over again!

I was thinking of having a GTG at my loft sometime in the next couple weeks.  A wine tasting would be a fun thing to do, everyone could bring a bottle or two and some kind of appetizer.
Suggest any dates on when to have it?

I vote for a Thursday night, otherwise I can't make it.  I think it would be a great idea.  Sorry I missed out on your new year bash, sounds like you had a great time....hopefully next year.

cheers

Alan!  I am up for that.  I am going to be out of town the 16th through the 18th, but otherwise, anything will work for me.  Sign me up!  I have some good wines I can bring.

This week maybe a little short notice for everyone, but it still maybe a possibility if we get enough people.
Do you prefer to aim for Thursday, Jan 15th instead?

I just found out that I will be working nights from the 11th through 22nd, so in this time period, I can only do it before 5pm...

That sounds good.  More time to round up more people.
Would a Friday or weekend be better since some of us won't be working the next day?  Otherwise Thursday's fine.

Only thing with Friday nights or weekends is that I can't make it...I work every Friday, Saturday and Sunday night.  But don't let me be the deciding factor...it all comes down to who can make it when, and what works for the largest number of people.  I certainly hope it is a Thursday so I can be there, but if not...maybe some other time

Ok, let's set it up for Thursday January 29th (I really need to give my liver a break).
Spread the word around!

Do I get to come?  :)  I miss everyone...hate working so damned much, and have never really been able to chit chat and bond with you, Alan.  Saw you at the Nat'l GTGs, but just never seemed to be the right time to visit.  Anyhoo, I'd ask for the night off  :)

Yeah Jon, I miss you guys.  My life has been in a bit of turmoil since the holidays and I haven't been online/out much.

Alan are you still planning on Thurs night?  I requested the night off of work :)  Also, have you given any thought on what we might be able to bring?  A bottle or two of wine, of course, but anything else?

Sorry to hear things are not so well Wendy...but as one of my favorite people once said, "don't take life too seriously, you'll never get out alive"-quoted from V.W.

I am still planning on showing up...so I certainly hope Alan is gonna be there, otherwise I'm just gonna crash his place and have my own little wine party

Yup, the party's still on.

I was thinking each person brings an appetizer along with their favorite wine.
A good friend of mine just bought a new black GTI, so he's now part of the VW family -- he will be there, so I hope you all could give him a warm welcome to the club!
I'm already planning mods for him to do!

It will be awesome to see you Wendy!  It's great you could take off work to come.

Jon, my loft is guarded by a bunch of sharks with lasers so there's no way you could break in!

Is 7pm a good time for everyone?

Thusday the 29th at 7pm it is.  I'll be there with bells on.  Darrell just moved up to Steamboat, so no sommelier for us. :(

I'm learning though...

Alan, my hobby is sharks with frickin' laser beams on their heads, so I can bypass them without so much as a single sinder on my clothing....just try to stop me, bwahahahahahaha....

7pm works great for me, can we invite some other people, small number, maybe 1 or 2?

this should be a good time...hope to see everyone there.

Sorry the link above doesn't work if you want to RSVP.  Just e-mail me and I'll add you to the list (so the bouncers know who to let in!).

I haven't heard from Wendy Darling -- could someone e-mail her?  I know she was interested in attending.

I don;t have the eVite e-mail here at work, but I will NOT be able to attend.  I have a scan tomorrow and am just goign to chill.  I don't want to do anything that might screw up the results. :(

I'll have to make the next one.

hey all it's the BIG NEPTIZZLE!!!

thought i would join the world of the living after having been drugged up from shoulder surgery last week.

Winston let me in on this little gathering and it sounds like a riot.  Hopefully you all can make a little room for and old B5er.

Is anyone from the south area going to be headed up to the shindig tonight?   Reason I ask is I still can't drive.  I would love to see everyone again!!

Let me know if you can spare some room in your car for brotha!

Later, Adam

Holy shit, it's Adam!!!

Wow the B5 veteran is back!  It will be great to see you, it has been a while.   I still have that piece of railing I'm trying to get rid of, it's yours if you want it.

Yup, the oven is free for anyone to use.

Thanks again for having this Alan!

Thanks for having us all over, hope to do it again some time.

Thanks all of you for coming, I had a great time and will definately do it again soon.

BTW, Jon your Woop Woop tasted great!
I'll get some Fat Bastards next time -- that should be our next theme, weirdly named wines.

Thanks Alan for having me over. You did a great job with your place. We should make this wine tasting gtg a monthly thing, but have it at a different house each month, then in the summer we can have wine and bbq gtg's. I noticed we have the same grill - I love those Webers!
