Title: So I now know what it is that EuroTuner looks for in a car
Post by: ianacole on May 04, 2007, 03:20:45 PM
In response to my question to them if they'd be interested in doing a feature on my car:

Quote from: "EuroTuner Email Response"
Thanks for the email, we appreciate you taking the time to contact us.
Please dont take this wrong, but its not quite the sort of car were looking for.
The spec is impressive, but it lacks some polish visually which is important if we were to photograph it.
It looks like a fun car to drive and you clearly drive the balls off it!

Regards
et

"lacks some polish....." if all they want is a nice wax job it seems as though they are being a little picky?
For what it's worth i think it looks great in real life and in pictures.......perhaps you should write to "Performance Shiny Tuner" magazine?

No offense but having just a touch of auto media experience I understand what they are saying.  You have a cool car, a fun car, even one that is worthy of moderate exposure in mags. (as has been proven).

It is just that next step of "umph", "bling"......"polish" that it is missing for the feature car slot.  I even thnk your car is close. It just needs that little extra....

If it is a goal you have I think it would be pretty easy to get there. I think you are close.....

ian - once you drop a mahle engine in, get the cage installed it will be ready. The other option you have is to add a cheap body kit and some 20" chrome wheels with no-name tires and they will be interested.

here are my impressions of a Eurotuner feature car's criteria

1. Owner must be a "student" - LOL
2. It has to have $5,000 or more worth of stereo equipment in it.
3. It has to have carbon fiber somewhere (you actuall do have this)
4. You must live in CA, AZ, NY, GA, FL, MA or NV to have them come take pictures of your car.
5. THe have to have seen your car at a show they actually attend which are only on the west coast and east coast.
6. If you car is build purely for GO and not SHOW, well too bad!

I picked up the latest issue of ET to see the actually rather nice shot of Ian's car in Utah. I was suprised by the reader rides in the back that were much cooler, I thought that a couple of the rather bland features cars. But due to the variance of cars, it's definitely not just about the bling factor.

Cole would probably be a good resource for that  Hmm...what do I need to get my Audi in a magazine?
