Title: Well I was going to...
Post by: evil_O on May 07, 2007, 07:21:23 PM
add to my already existing thread but I felt the new Subie deserved better.

Just picked her up a couple hours ago:

2007 Subaru Impreza Sport Wagon 2.5i
Urban Gray
Everything else is stockie stockie stockie

I got a good deal on the car... $17300... or at least I think it was decent.  They were asking 18900 MSRP.  On the 'ol flip side of that I got raped on my Saab... that POS I will never buy another one of those... dam those suck.  Don't even get me started.

I LOVE the new SuBiE though!

I am off to try and figure out how to load a pic... I had trouble with that the last time as most I am sure can remember....  :x

Well I don't know how to imbed it but here is a link to the eye.....................

Nice ride, I think Jon and I have some good car buying competition here. ;)

OK.  I might have the two of you beat if we are counting just sheer numbers.  Since March of '06 I have had the following (don't ask me to explain my choices... I thought they made sense at the time):

Subaru LGT Ltd Wagon... god I miss this one
xB
'01 F150
1985 Gti
Jeep Wrangler
Saab
Subaru Wagon 2.5i

That is 7 in a year!  I am done... out for the count..... except for getting Aim her Subie sedan!

dude, we have the exact same car....except mine is automatic.

I added the fogs, and a rear spoiler like the WRX has, tint and a Kenwood system with HD and direct iPod connect.  I am averaging 30mpg right now, not bad for a boggy automatic.

Congrats on the new ride...and your price is right where i ended up paying with the auto, but they threw in a few extras for me due to my sales guy being an idiot.

Sweet! What the hell were you doing with an XB? Did crack and didn't share? :P '

Nice choice. We'll have to get together and look at each others' cars.

I kinda like the XB....in a rolling fridge kinda way.  Betsy on the other hand is like the rest of you, she would disown me if I got one. ;)

If I wanted something strictly for show or like a promo vehicle or something, it'd be an XB- they're perfect for it.

the XB would be an awesome car for some MAJOR modifications.  if you took one, find a way to get some big hp (maybe take out the back seats and put a bog v-8 in the back), convert it to RWD, and chop the roof so the windshield and side windows are about 1/2 the stock height, then keep the whole thing slammed like the one in the pic jon posted.  that would be sweet.

here is a chopped one, not quite half the window height, but they did cut it down a bit.

the smoking one above puts down some serious HP, although still FWD.  I believe it had a huge turbo in it and a bunch of other internals...but still, they did it for under $15K in mods....

love the chopped look on that orange one.

Thanks.  I love this thing.. she is not tubooooed.... but she sounds great.  I love it when she sounds all burbly.  I keep finding myself wishing it would snow :?

As odd as the xB is, I really liked that car.  Gas was great, price was right, and it could haul a dump load.

Jon, I have to ask... not that I can afford, but where did you get the fogs and how much?  Also, did you throw in the HDs that were in the OBXT?

I got the fogs and pre-painted fog plates from www.subarugenuineparts.com  Jamie aka subiegal who is a rally driver in the PNW runs the parts dept at a dealership, and that is her site.  OEM stuff at an excellent price.  I also got my pre-painted wing from them, installed that myself as well.  I ordered the stuff through her, and the dealership I got the car from paid me what they charged....as I told them I wanted to get the stuff here in Denver and have it installed.  They also paid me for "labor" for the installs...so I really lucked out.  But still, I think the entire fog set up was less than $250 from Jamie.

surrounds

light kit with painted surrounds included
https://www.subarugenuineparts.com/product_info.php?cPath=33_48&products_id=934

looks like $277 with shipping extra for everything...not bad considering you get the lamps, painted surrounds, relays, and switch.  it is all plug and play, took me about 45 minutes to install them and have them operational.  Price may have come up a bit since last summer, but it does not seem like that much.

I did put the OBXT xenons in my 2.5i, but there is a web page that has HIGH quality xenons at a much lower price.  Charles got a set from them, and they are awesome.  I helped him install his set, although I broke a tab on one of his headlights that to this day still bothers me...feeling really guilty and bad about it....anyway, the set is less than $200 for everything, and it is as good as any phillips set I have seen.  On a good note, the optics in the 2.5i projectors are acutally awesome.  With my conversion, I have no glare, and the cut off line is precise.  Excellent light dispersion and i am running 6000K.  I actually think they have better light output and dispersion than my OEM MINI projector xenons.

Thaks Jon.  My birthday is right around the corner so this may be something I ask for... the fogs that is.  Definately something I would like to have.  I agree too, not a bad price on 'em.

HDs are in my future but prolly not till next year.

I am still trying to figure out if my Thule tub will attach to the rack.... :?:

did you get cross bars?  If not, I have some that came with my car that you can have.  They are the OEM aero ones, but I am sure they will work with a tub.

Yep.  I got the crossbars.  You took yours off?  Did you take the entire rack off?  I have not looked to closely but I was wondering how the towers fit on or if they are part of the car.. lol

Jon: no worries, the headlight is fine. Not like it's hanging out or wobbling around in there or anything.

Several AWers and myself got our HIDs from VVME (http://vvme.com/). I got the 4300s and frakking love em. I paid $130 shipped for mine.

the towers come off, but then the trim has holes in it which can cause leaks.  I took mine off and put on a yakima set and have my bike racks on there.

Charles, thanks for not holding it against me

Thanks!  I just ordered a couple of Bi Xenon sets, I will report back when I get 'em.
