Title: Newbie to the euro scene
Post by: Richard-EB on May 31, 2007, 09:34:27 PM
Hey all!
Well, I just purchased myself my first Euro.  I now will be driving a 2001 Audi A4 Quattro, blue w/ black leather, Sport suspension, and manual transmission.  I am coming from an offroading background, formerly owning a 96 Ford Ranger that was lifted.  But when this opportunity came along, I could not resist the chance to snap it up.  Here are pictures of the ride as it is now.  I have no idea on the mods that I will do on it as of yet, but I am looking into a double-din navigation unit and a ski/bike rack to start.

A little about myself.  I am currently in Japan, but will be moving back to Greeley, Colorado this July to attend the University of Northern Colorado for my secondary education/English degree.  I am really excited about what this club has to offer, and hope to be a good asset to the forums and other club functions.

Welcome Richard, nice choice in transportation. We have a few wheeling folks on here as well. The double DIN NAV conversion is a bear sometimes, there are lots of writeups out there and a few shops that can even do the install and source the parts if you go that route.

I think my biggest concern now is the NAV is getting dated and the I wonder how long they will update the discs. There are aftermarket options as well. There are some folks who have fabricated some nice third party setups out there on the web.

By the way that is one of my favorite Audi colors. Very nice choice.

Thanks all.  I am fairly excited to be coming home to this car.  I am really looking forward to making this car uniquely mine.  As for the Navigation, I have seen some pictures of it done, but have not been very impressed with the actual dash piece that surrounds the whole unit.  I too was worried about the DVDs becoming outdated, but I have been told that Pioneer does release new and updated DVDs that can be downloaded by current owners of their products.

Welcome to the club!  Greeley has a few VAG fans, and they'll occassionally make their way down for some of the weekend get-togethers.  Make sure you tag along (or come down on your own) at some point.  You've also got some really good resources for product and service up there out of SCR Performance in Loveland.

I look forward to coming to some get-togethers down in the Denver area.  My parents live in Littleton, so its not like i would have to drive all the way back if it was late.  Also, I love to bike, and noticed some of you like to ride as well.  I am sure i will bring my bike down for a ride every now and then.

Welcome to the club, Richard.  We have a lot of GTGs and garage/detail days, so come hang out for one and get in the groove.

Sounds like a plan to me.  I have always loved the look on people's faces when they see a caravan of cars just race by
