Title: N75 H valve
Post by: madigan on February 05, 2004, 02:50:21 PM
What does any one think about replaceing the N75 valve before I put my chip in? Is the stock valve prone to wear out with the added power? I might just do it when I do the TB if it's easier to do with the front end apart. TIA

Mark, the N75 doesn't wear out any sooner because of the chip like the DV does. You could do it before the chip, but I'm not sure if you'll see any more performance because of it. Maybe a little bit, but not much. the N75 H valve will be a nice addition to your chip when you get it. But I like to do those kinds of mods in stages just to see what really made a difference. "Was it the chip or the N75? Of course the chip will be a huge difference. And the N75, while not as big of difference, is a nice upgrade as well. But also think of it in terms of, "what if something doesn't work?" Was it the N75 or the chip?

Also, seeings how you won't be totally removing the radiator, it won't be any easier to get to the N75 while doing the TB install. It's a bit of a bugger to get at, but it's a fairly easy thing to do anyhow.

I have the N75 H valve on my APR chipped AEB B5 and it's a nice thing to add. :D

Thanks Chas! That's the kind of answer I was looking for. I think I'll wait to replace my N75 valve. :)

So did you replace the N75 valve at all?

I replaced mine a few weeks after I installed my APR 91 and 100 chip.  The boost before the N75 was more of a instant on thing, and not gradual at all. Once I installed the N75 valve, I felt that the boost came in alot more smoother then before.  I cant complain and highly recommend it.

When i changed out the N75, the boost came on harder, earlier and seemed to keep the peak boost higher into the rpm range.. The only downfall i see is that the boost is more 'on and off' now. and that is with the apr v2 software.
