Title: AARRGG!!! Update with many thanks!
Post by: SweetVW on July 09, 2007, 02:24:48 PM
Randy just called and said I have water in my hydraulics.  It is contaminating my clutch fluid.  I have had a slowly worsening issue with my clutch peddle not coming all the way back up when changing gears.  He is going to let me know if more than the master cylinder and the fluid reservoir need to be replaced.  I am crossing my fingers and hoping the slave cylinder is also not affected.  He and Todd are going to see if they can flush the system out and try to regain hydraulic pressure.  If I understand correctly, if they can do that the slave cylinder might be ok.  If not then time to crack the tranny open.  UGH!  :o :(

I have a spare clutch slave if you need it.  Good luck, and hopefully it's an easy fix.

Thanks for the comments.  Depending on how things go Ian, I may take you up on your offer.  I am hoping to hear some good news today.  In talking with Randy yesterday, he felt pretty good that the slave cylender is ok.  But, he will only know for sure once they try to regain pressure.  I am really keeping my fingers crossed.

I will say this, that no matter what happens, I know that my baby is in the VERY best hands it could be in!

With MANY thanks to Randy and Todd the GTI is happy again.  The brake fluid resevior and master cylinder were replaced.  She also used up 5 quarts of brake fluid to flush and refill the system.  Randy said that he has bever seen such dirty brake fluid.  I guess I have a dirty girl, whacha goin' to do!

Again, thank you APS for getting me back on the road.  ;D
