Title: New mods on the MkV GTi and going to Bandimere
Post by: s4josh on August 06, 2007, 01:25:26 PM
Randy and Todd at Autobahn Premier Service installed my AWE turbo back exhaust with the 200 cell per inch metal cat, AWE in-vent boost gauge, K&N drop in air filter and GIAC X-chip programming with the AWE big exhaust profile.  I am happy with everything, but now I want a CAI, FMIC and a bigger turbo :D

I am going up to Bandimere Speedway this Wed Aug 8th.  If anyone would like to go up there also let me know or say hi to me if you see me.  It is $30 dollars to race all night or $10 to watch, but don't watch me i will be slow ;)  It starts at 4:00 pm and goes until 9:00 pm.

Josh,

Myself and members from Metrodubs.com are headed up there on the 15th if you want to roll up with some dubs and Audi's..  The Broomfield PD gives away tickets to run free at the track.  Its located off Eldon Road and I-76.

Just thought i'd throw it out for you.

Also, are you the guy that lives off Bowles in Littleton?  If so, i was the MKV that ran into you and your lady when your were in your Passat TDI.

I think I will be up there again this week since my times from last Wed were not the best in the world. Most of my committment will depend on the weather, if it rains in the afternoon at the times it has been of late I might pass till next week.

I think the storms are supposed to move out by Wed for a little RnR so you will probably be in luck.

If I do well I will go up two weeks in a row :D  I will be up north this weekend, so I will stop by the broomfield police office for a free ticket.  Thats cool they are doing that.

Yes, that was me and thanks to your GTi the CFO (my wife) approved more budget for modifications :D  She actually said "if i knew the GTi could look like that I would have let you mod it while ago", if only she would listen to me ;)

Very nice sir! It was nice to meet you guys, that Passat is the most beautiful i have ever seen! Love the fact it is a TDI too!

Let me know if you are going to make on the 15th, we usually meet at the entrance by 330pm, getting in so early means a chance at atleast 5 runs for the night, if not more.

I would love to head to bandimere, but Randy is chasing a boost leak for me today.  we'll see what the required fix is - and how long that will take - before I make any decisions about going.

Well thank you for the compliment.  I really like the Passat and has some more mods coming up that will make it look even better :)

I always try to get there around 3:30, but don't tell everyone that because it means less runs for the people who do know to get there early ;)

Well the weather should be ok today for Bandimere, so the weather lady said this morning, but you know it will probably rain  ::)  I will be out there either way!

Sure!  Blame me!

I might have to come out next week too.  I have never run the Passat, but after all the work last weekend, I would like to know how it goes in the 1/4 mile.

I smell a GTG ;D

Metrodub guys are going out there also so should be a good time if some rmcb5 guys show up too!  I will go again!  I have a feeling my car has some thing wrong and Randy will need to look at it, so I will need to re-run it anyways.

The rice burner guys didn't even attempt to talk to me and would only glace at my car long enough to realize what it was.  Do I need more lights, spoilers, gauges, stickers, a wing on my roof (stolen from Ian's idea), and some neon lights under the car to get attention (I am in need of some ;D)? Then right before my last run one of their girl friends said "whats that car?" and point at me and she followed up with "a Ford Focus?" :'( her boy friend with his hat on sideways next to his copper color 350Z with 5% tint corrected her, but come on..  So it would be nice to have some fellow euro car guys out there that have girl friends that won't call my car a Ford Focus (I may be reaching here)!

There were only three Vdubs out there, an air cooled bug, a MkIV GTi and me.  There were a few other VAG cars.  One guy with a Audi A4 2.8, a full done up black RS4/K04 S4 with grey wheels done by AutoSportWorks, and a silver 911 Turbo.  There were a couple hundred cars out there racing, and I still got 6 runs in by 8:15 :)

I focused mainly on my reaction time (R/T) and launching tonight.  I am still figuring out the best 2-3 and 3-4 shift points, but I wasn't as concerned with that.  My last run was my best reaction time, quickest and fastest, so I felt good about the night :)

Here are my stats: a negative R/T indicates I red lighted or a DNF for you auto-cross folk or went before the light was green in simple terms, but since its test and tune night who cares ;)

Run#  R/T   60'    1/8     1/4     Trap MPH
1     .144  2.361  10.963  15.354  90.70
2    -.061  2.391   9.929  15.368  90.82
3     .087  2.394   9.966  15.428  90.40
4    -.036  2.418  10.065  15.520  90.18
5    -.012  2.408   9.941  15.359  91.31
6     .014  2.346   9.817  15.209  91.55

"You owe me a 10 second car."

My car is an anchor and I doubt it would be much fun at Bandimere.

Nice last run, good way to finish the night.

I think my car shudders at the thought of drag strips after the last time ;)

You're just to Fast for your own GTi ;)

Were you on your K03 when we were up there last year?

Good times sir!! I would have been there but the fuel pressure regulator issue came up ON THE DRIVE THERE and had to divert to the dealer.  I ran the rental car for kicks!

Nice reactions times but APR FTW!  ;D

I need to run more but ran a 14.87 at 94.16 mph.  I trapped 95 on one run and know if i can get my launch down,(hit a 2.21 60ft at bug-in) i think i could break into the 14.7 range.

Ahh, yes APR FTW!  I have an excuse, but either way I have to get into APS to get it corrected then we will see ;)

I was wondering what you were running in the 1/4.  That is a nice time and a good 60'.  I was hoping and expecting high 14's, so I was a little depressed, but I was much better then last year when I had no launch control and my best was a 16.2.

Judging by your numbers you made 10 more wheel hp then I did to pull off that time assuming your car was about 130 lbs lighter then mine.  What did you weight in at with you in the car?

What mods do you have on the drive train?  I know you said APR stage 2, but what was your setup when you ran that time: FMIC, CAI, APR 91 oct or 100 oct program, turbo back exhaust, 100 cell cat, and I assume you are still on the K03?  I didn't see anything posted in the members rides or the new member area about drive train mods.

Mods:
EVOMS intake
APR stage 2 - 91 octane program
APR turbo back exhaust
Autotech mount insert
Forge DV

Running the Eagle F1 tires.  Ran full tire pressure, going to drop the pressure next time at the track to help with launching, which is a bitch! Hoping to hit that 2.1 so i can break into the 14.7 range.
