Title: Car is back on the road..
Post by: Eric18T on July 28, 2008, 05:00:22 PM
If anyone recalls i posted back in May about the timing belt tensioner failure on my wifes TDi. it has been about 2.5 months and her car is almost ready. The whole motor is rebuilt and stronger than before. Both the top & bottom end sustained major damage when the timing advanced due to the tensioner failure. It was a disaster.

We ended up having a Boston based TDi guru rebuild it. It is going to be much stronger than before and many of the parts were cryo treated. The pistons were also sent swain for coating. The quench area was increase slightly and longer valves are being installed. We are going to run the OEM turbo but run custum tuning for the bigger nozzles.

She is going to be so happy to have her car back.

Glad it's back up and running, what an ordeal you've had to go through to get here. Although it sounds like the car will be better than before.
