Title: New DV's, New Hoses, New Covers, BWW, pics inside
Post by: 03Indigo on March 28, 2004, 10:56:06 PM
OK, so the plan is almost complete...wednesday will be the final phase of the transformation, putting in my H-sports then.  So, last week I did APR chip, and now have just installed my 710N DV's and Samco hoses and TBB.  I also decided to paint the engine covers, I know they are not for everyone, but they make me smile...so here are a few shots of the process.  To start, old and busted compared to new hotness from near same angles.

then here are some shots of the what things went...first is the replacement of the tbb (throttle body boot)  here is the new one in place, there is not sensor thingy in place there, cuz I wanted to show what it actually looked liek.  I believe if you look close, you can see the hoses that come off of those intakes that the DV's (diverter valves) connect to from the pre-turbo intake tubing.

then some other hoses added, the samcos look so perty :-)

Then you have to slap the DV's in place and do the little vaccuum lines to the metal pipe thing-a-majig. (sorry, not technical in knowledge, but i can put things back to gether pretty good, hehe)

Finally, I got everything done, all covers installed and spiffed up.  Here are a couple of shots, front and from driver side.  note, I also painted the lower coil pack covers.  I was gonna do blue on them where is says 5V and the lines, but not sure if that would be too much, so I am gonna wait on that for a while, see how I like things.

so, there you have it, personal taste with a touch of performance upgrade, made for a fun weekend project...but I have to admit, after all that painting, I am feeling a bit light headed, so sorry for my goofiness.

cheers
jon

Ditto.  You've been one busy boy! Makes my replacing several vacuum lines yesterday seem tame.  See you on Wed.

Eric, it drives amazingly.  The 710N's added a little more boost I believe, and with it all together, I can't believe how fast it really is these days.  can't wait to take people for rides 8)  :D

Jon, Maybe you could spray a good coat or two of automotive clear coat over the pinstriping to keep it in place?

Alan, I did that, about 4 coats total...still bubbling.  I think the vinyl of the pin stripe can't handle the heat.  It is only doing it on the front cover, so eventually I will re-du that and just paint it on with enamel.

Looks great Jon! Nicely done. Too bad about the bubbling though, but you'll get it done right!  :)
