Title: todays mods -- > spacers = good
Post by: Eric18T on April 25, 2004, 01:26:27 PM
I added 15mm H&R spacers to my rear wheels and wow it was a noticible difference in handling. I was actually surprised that it made a difference. The rear end track more direct and seems to rotate better. Thanks for the lug bolts Jon.

If anyone has room for spacers on the rear of your car i would recommend looking into it (front drive cars). It really seems to help.

After spacers:

I also mounted up the new wheels on the wifes Golf.. And going from 15" wheels with Toyo snow tires to 17" Moda R6's with Bridgestone SO-3 PP made a huge difference in her cars handling. :)

Thats it for this weekend.  :P

What size bolt did you use?  I am thinking that with my 18" I would like to add 15mm to the rears to bring them out a bit and look matched to the front.

I am not sure. I threw the bag away they came in. Maybe Jon can chime in since i bought the set of the bolts off of him. He might actually a have another set at his house.

The bolts are 40mm thread length, standard bolt size in conical head.  I do have one more set at home for one complete axle...so Dave, if you are interested, let me know.

Eric, I did get the check and the fluid, thanks for leaving them there.

Thanks Jon, I am interested.  I can bring a bolt that came with the 18" on Wednesday and compare.  If it will work then I would like to pick them up.

Eric - it does look real nice.  I find the Moda R6 wheels to be even nicer!  There is a  set on AW that I've been eyeing for sometime.  Just not sure if I want to spend that money rigth now.

See you on May 1st.

FYI
Auto Sport Werks and Avalon carry spacers in stock locally. Might want to check with them if you're looking for a set (as I am!)

I already had the spacers from a  year ago with my old wheels (my winter beater BBS RX-II's).  you can check the local places like AutoSport Werks, and Avalon or if you prefere online retailers, ECS Tuning has a great selection and they  can help you decifer which combo works with what wheels.  It can be tough with spacers and different wheels to figure out what fits. Many of the wheels with hubcentric rings you will be limited on what spacers fit. I am sure Mark can talk to us about that one ;).

Winston -  My cars are still pretty much stock.. Nothing crazy yet.
